98: 984 Fore word This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Automobile Standards Committee It specifies requirements for 24 V type S (supplementary) electrical connectors between towing vehicles and trailers and is based on “Road vehicles — Electrical connections between towing vehicles and trailers with 24 V electrical equipment — Type 24 S (supplementary)”, ISO 3731 : 980 published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Connectors manufactured in accordance with this standard are interchangeable with those made in accordance with ISO 3731 , but the standards are not identical j This standard differs from ISO 3731 in that contact warning and contact f is designated as failure is designated as switched power supply, to make provisions for plugs of type 24 S which will permit electrical connections between towing vehicles and trailers with 24 V electrical equipment NOTE These sockets and plugs are not interchangeable with The plug shall be mounted on the trailer in the case of a road train and on the towing vehicle in the case of an articulated road train f k The plug shall be provided with six spring tubes e corresponding to pins
