School: ……………………………………… Class: …………………………… Date:…………………………………… Period: ………………………………… UNIT 1: FEELINGS Lesson (page 11) Objectives By the end of this lesson, students will be able to obtain the following: 1.1 Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: happy, sad, fine/OK, great Sentence pattern: “How are you?”; “I'm (fine).” Skills: Talk about how they feel, using the vocab in the lesson 1.2 Competences Self-control and independent learning: Building up an awareness of taking care of others in their family or community Communication and collaboration: Being collaborative and supportive in teamwork Critical thinking and creativity: Building up non-verbal communication skills through feeling expression 1.3 Attributes Kindness: Knowing how to share joyfulness or sympathize with others Diligence and Honesty: Building up interests and good habits in learning English Accountability: Becoming responsible for others Teaching aids and materials - Teacher’s aids: Tiếng Anh i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book and Teacher’s book, Class CDs, Flashcards, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, Projector/Interactive Whiteboard /TV (if any), PowerPoint slides - Students’ aids: Tiếng Anh i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book, Workbook, Notebook Procedures A Warm up (5 minutes) Fill in the missing letters a Objectives: Students can fill in the missing letters b Content: Filling in the missing letters c Expected outcomes and assessment: - Task completed with excellence: Students can fill in the missing letters correctly and quickly - Task completed: Students can fill in the missing letters correctly - Task uncompleted: Students can fill in the missing letters but with some difficulties d Organization Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Option 1: “Pass the ball” game -Write a word on the board which misses a letter or more (E.g h pp ) - Give the ball to a student (randomly) - Listen and sing together - Have students listen to music, sing together and pass the ball Use DCR (Lesson 1, C Sing) - Stop music - Have the student with a ball in hand try to fill the missing - Give their answers letters - Continue the game (T decides how many times) Option 2: “Hangman” game - Split the class into four teams - Follow T’s instructions - Draw the hangman board and draw blank spaces for the word the teacher wants them to guess Page of - Have each team guess a letter If they guess it correctly then they get one point for each letter in the word If they get it wrong then draw a head, body, legs and arms (When the teacher draws all the parts of body the game is over and the teacher starts a new game The winner is the one with the most points at the end of the last puzzle) - Try to guess the letters so as not to be hanged B New lesson Task D Point, ask, and answer (10 minutes) a Objectives: Students will be able to point, ask, and answer, using the structures “How are you?” and “I’m (fine)” b Contents: Pointing, asking, and answering the structures “How are you?” and “I’m (fine)” c Expected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can point, ask, and answer, using the structures “How are you?” and “I’m (fine)” correctly and fluently - Task completed: Students can point, ask, and answer, using the structures “How are you?” and “I’m (fine)” but with minor difficulty - Task uncompleted: Students have difficulty in point, ask, and answer, using the structures “How are you?” and “I’m (fine)” d Organization Teacher’s activities Students’ activities D Point, ask, and answer Practice (optional) - Divide the class into two teams - Follow T’s instructions - Show a flashcard to the class - Have Team A ask the question and Team B answer - Join in the activity, ask questions and Swap roles and repeat E.g., (Teacher shows a flashcard give answers "great".) • Team A: "How are you?" • Team B: "I'm great."
