The Colorado Hospitality Scholarship Program is inclusive of two different scholarship programs in 2018 Each scholarship is funded through the state’s leading trade association and designed to help support students pursuing degrees in the hospitality and tourism industry at accredited, four-year universities, or colleges This year we will offer $66,000 in combined in scholarships Students who meet the criteria for each of these scholarships are invited to apply Hospitality Scholarships Available MDLC Scholarship: Funded through the Metro Denver Lodging Council (MDLC), a council of the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association, which address issues that pertain specifically to metro Denver area hotels MDLC Emerging Leader Scholarship: In addition to the scholarships above, the MDLC will also be giving out one $5,000 scholarship to an emerging leader in Denver’s hospitality industry The qualifications and requirements are the same as the MDLC scholarships, but in addition the candidate must be in or working toward a supervisory position in a Denver hotel and must submit a letter of recommendation from their manager MDLC scholarship funding available for distribution this year: $57,000 Karl Mehlmann Scholarship: Funded through the American Hotel & Lodging Education Foundation (AH&LEF) and administered through the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association (CHLA) Background information: This scholarship is named after Karl W Mehlmann who served as an outstanding leader in the Colorado hospitality industry for over 40 years and was an active figure in furthering education
