Clinical Coordinator Infectious Diseases Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center Position Description: The Clinical Coordinator in Infectious Diseases is a challenging, diverse, and dynamic position with opportunities and responsibilities in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy management, pharmacy administration, teaching, mentoring, and research The Pharmacotherapy Team consists of highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist Specialists each having completed at least two years of post-graduate training, and 10 PGY-1 and PGY-2 pharmacy residents who strive to provide high caliber and comprehensive pharmaceutical care services The 318-bed acute care hospital has a 10-bed medical/surgical and 10-bed cardiac intensive care unit, a step-down cardiac care telemetry unit, a 30-bed ventilator unit, a 911 receiving emergency department and satellite pharmacy, and surgical services including neurosurgery The patient care responsibilities of this position are to round daily with medical attending physicians, medical and pharmacy residents/students, and nurses and provide drug information, comprehensive pharmacotherapy consultations, pharmacokinetic dosing, infectious disease consultations and restricted antimicrobial approvals; participate on codes, formulary management, and medication reconciliation The Clinical Coordinator will also serve as the lead for the Antibiotic Stewardship Program at the facility The Clinical Coordinator will administer lectures to the medical/nursing staff, participate in key hospital-wide committees, and serve as a liaison between the pharmacy and medical/nursing staffs A responsibility of this position is to serve as a faculty member, role model, mentor and preceptor for our ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Residency Programs in Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Pharmacy Practice There will be a non-compensatory faculty appointment at the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice rank with Touro College of Pharmacy Opportunities to precept Pharm.D students also exist This position offers an excellent opportunity to fulfill leadership, learning, teaching, research and publishing endeavors Applicants should be organized, resourceful, cooperative, collaborative, collegial, motivated and passionate Required or Desired Credentials or Experience: The applicant should have excellent oral and written communication skills Applicants should possess a Pharm.D degree and be eligible for licensure in New York State A PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in Infectious Diseases is preferred Description of Institution/Organization: Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center is a 784-bed teaching, medical and pharmacy university-affiliated, non-profit, private community institution, comprised of a 318-bed acute care hospital and a 466-bed adult and pediatric skilled nursing longterm care facility The hospital is within 20 minutes of Manhattan Contact Person Henry Cohen, MS, PharmD, FCCM, BCPP, CGP Chief Pharmacotherapy Officer HCohenLIU@aol.com and HCohen@kingsbrook.org 718-604-5373 (Please e-mail your CV and contact information)
