Tulane University invites applications for the Director of Development, School of Liberal Arts position Founded in 1834, Tulane University is a top-ranked institution and a leader in innovative initiatives in academia on a global scale In 2006, following Hurricane Katrina, the School of Liberal Arts was established at Tulane It encompasses 16 departments, and 19 interdisciplinary programs, as well as three centers Covering the arts, humanities and social sciences, it offers 41 majors and 29 minors, and confers BA, BS, MA, MFA, and PhD degrees It has a unique vision comprised of an interdisciplinary approach, a dedication to place-based creativity, and a commitment to public service, and has identified Digital Arts and Humanities, Gulf South Culture, Global Latin America, and Crisis and Innovations as distinctive interdisciplinary strengths In addition to its numerous majors and minors, it reaches out to all students at Tulane through its oversight of much of the core curriculum, service learning, and writing courses Its monthly newsletter is sent to over 50,000 parents, students, and alumni Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, Major Gifts, the Senior Development Officer, School of Liberal Arts, will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of School of Liberal Arts prospects This position has a focus on securing gifts of $100,000 and above The Director of Development will coordinate overall school-based giving and major gift activities at the School of Liberal Arts, including managing the Deans development activities and all fundraising matters related to the College The position will work closely with other departments within Advancement including Major Gifts, Reunion and Annual Giving, Gift Planning, Stewardship, Corporate, Foundation, and Research Relations, and Advancement Information Services, as well as Alumni Relations, Advancement Communications and Marketing, and other departments throughout the university Qualifications The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and years’ experience as a direct fund-raising professional, or a high school diploma or equivalent, and 11 years’ direct fundraising experience Experience closing major and multi-year annual gifts in a research university environment preferred Transferrable experience in marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales experience may be considered Moderate travel is required Application Instructions To apply, please complete an application on our website http://www2.tulane.edu/jobs/ Tulane University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution Women, racial and ethnic minorities, veterans, and persons with disabilities, are encouraged to apply
