DIOCESE of GREENSBURG Managing Director The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Greensburg (PA) Job Announcement The Diocese of Greensburg (PA) invites nominations and applications for the position of Managing Director of the Catholic Foundation The Diocese seeks a passionate and practicing member of the Catholic Faith who is an experienced Advancement professional to lead its fundraising efforts The Diocese, under the leadership of His Excellency, The Most Reverend Lawrence Brandt, includes 162,000 parishioners, 85 parishes, 19 schools, and Catholic Charities, spanning four counties in central Pennsylvania Recently, the Diocese has been focused on renewed evangelism, engagement of young faithful as volunteers, and expanded services in after care A capital campaign was concluded recently and raised $55 million The campaign allowed the Diocese to hire a Director of Evangelism, strengthen parishes and religious education, enhance schools through tuition aid, support the work of Catholic Charities, and expand seminarian education There are no current plans for another campaign, however, the Diocese is looking to build upon the outstanding campaign momentum through enhanced annual appeals and stewardship, targeted major giving, and continued growth of its planned giving program It is envisioned that growing the elements of the philanthropy program over the next few years may enable planning for another campaign effort in a few years The Diocese is located in Greensburg, an historic and quaint American town with a population of 15,000 Greensburg features a high quality of life including readily available and interesting arts, architecture, culture, shopping, and dining opportunities Greensburg is the county seat of Westmoreland County It is close enough to be considered part of the Pittsburgh metro area (only 35 miles to downtown) but far enough away to have a considerably more pastoral feel It offers its residents the best of both town and country and features among its many assets, beautiful, rolling country with affordable cost-of-living and ample educational opportunities With a low tax base, it is a wonderful place to raise a family Coal mining, farming, and steel-related industries have been the traditional economic engines of the area, and though there has been moderation of these sectors, they continue to be important to the region Light industry and service industries, along with health and educational organizations, have continued to strengthen the local communities and their economies Allegheny Energy and Excela Health are the two biggest private employers Seton Hill University is a Catholic liberal arts institution with 2,500 students located in Greensburg Page - The University of Pittsburg-Greensburg, located in Hempfield Township and known as PittGreensburg (UPG) had 1,675 full-time undergraduates (1,820 total) and 76 full-time (84 total) faculty in a recent year Indiana University of Pennsylvania is in Indiana County – about 35 miles north of Greensburg Started as a normal school, it now has about 15,000 total students The successful candidate will have at least five years of progressively responsible development experience and must be a practicing and enthusiastic Catholic, capable of passionate evangelism and persuasive to all in the Diocese of their moral and contractual commitment to Catholic faith practice (S)he should exhibit strong annual fund skills and evidence of successful major gift work, preferably in a Catholic organization A professional with unusual interpersonal skills, patience and skill in dealing with a variety of cultures and personalities, commitment to hard work inspired by a strong philanthropic ethos, and an inspiring capability of communicating the mission and story of the Diocese will be highly valued The Managing Director reports to the Bishop and works closely with the Vicar General on administrative matters (S)he provides astute Development program leadership and will offer realistic and effective counsel to key constituents including strategy formation and prospect management with the Bishop and Vicar General The Development Office currently is composed of four staff, including an experienced part-time Planned Giving Officer For more information about the position and to read the full position description, please go to: http://www.gonsergerber.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Job-Description.ManagingDirector-of-Development.Diocese-of-Greensburg.pdf Nominations and Applications: Nominations and applications will be accepted until the position is filled Inquiries, nominations, and applications may be directed in confidence to: Robert Driver, c/o Gonser Gerber LLP, 400 E Diehl Road, Suite 380, Naperville, IL 60563; rdriver@gonsergerber.com To apply, please submit a cover letter, résumé, and four professional references References will not be contacted until later in the search process
