Northwood Community Primary School Person Specification Form LA: Knowsley Job Title: LEAD PRACTITIONER School: Northwood Community Primary School Listed below are the Personal Attributes required to fulfil the duties listed in the Job Description Essential Personal Attributes Stage Identified Desirable Personal Attributes Stage Identified Qualifications  Qualified Teacher Status  Good honours degree or equivalent Application Application Experience                Application/ Sustained track record of successful performance as an outstanding teacher in KS1 & KS2 Interview Evidence of teaching that results in excellent results and outcomes Evidence of contribution to leading the improvement of teaching skills of colleagues through coaching Evidence of preparing & running professional development courses for staff of the school and others in the school’s network Extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential Excellent ability to assess and evaluate Extensive knowledge and well-informed understanding of the assessment requirements and arrangements for the curriculum areas being taught Have sufficient depth of knowledge and experience to be able to give advice on the development and well-being of children and young people Know how to improve the effectiveness of assessment practice in the workplace, including how to analyse statistical information to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning across the school Evidence of supporting teachers underperforming Demonstrate innovative pedagogical practice Have an extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant subjects/curriculum areas and related pedagogy, including how learning progresses within them Have an extensive knowledge on matters concerning equality, inclusion and diversity in teaching Have an excellent ability to provide learners, colleagues, parents and carers with timely, accurate and constructive feedback on learners’ attainment, progress and areas for development that promotes pupil progress Possess the analytical, interpersonal and organisational skills necessary to work effectively with staff and leadership  Former experience as an Advanced Skills Teacher  Evidence of exceptional teaching in EYFS Application/ Interview Knowledge and skills  Thorough knowledge of Curriculum 2014 and inherent challenges and creative approaches to its delivery  Knowledge of local and national statistical data as a basis for improving teaching & learning  Keeping colleagues up to date with developments in best practice identified through networks and research  Excellent subject knowledge, especially in Maths & English  Excellent practical understanding and knowledge of Assessment for Learning  Insightful ability to develop a purposeful learning environment  Exceptional ability to guide & supervise teaching assistants for maximum impact  Excellent ICT/Computing skills to enhance and support teaching and learning  Clear and pragmatic understanding of the national standards for teachers Application/ Interview  Read Write Inc trained  Awareness of ‘Power of Reading’  Understanding of KAGAN Collaborative Learning Strategies  Understanding of Rights Respecting Schools Award Application/ Interview Special Requirements         Ability to analyse own practice to stay sharp Extremely self-aware with excellent relational skills An unwavering commitment to see all children excel, whatever their background Excellent written & verbal communication skills & an ability to lead & motivate others Innovative and creative approaches to changing circumstances and ideas Have an excellent attendance record A good sense of humour Personal and professional integrity Application/ Interview Interview This job description is subject to change following appointment in negotiation with the post holder Person Specification Form – Guidance for Applicants What is the purpose of an Employee Specification Form? The Person Specification Form lists the personal attributes required to fulfil the duties listed in the Job Description What are personal attributes? The personal attributes are the qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills and any special requirements that are required to be able to fulfil the duties of the post They are set at a level appropriate to the work to be done and not higher than necessary; stated clearly and specifically; and entirely job related What are essential personal attributes? These are the personal attributes without which a person would simply be unable to the job Examples could be the possession of a current driving licence or a relevant qualification Any applicant who does not meet all of the essential requirements will not be shortlisted (unless the stage identified is not at application) Any Disabled applicant who meets all of the essential requirements must be shortlisted for interview What are desirable attributes? These are the personal attributes which are desirable, but not essential Examples for certain jobs could be local government experience or knowledge of new technology A candidate will not be rejected for failing to meet any single desirable requirement What are the Stages Identified? These are the stages in the selection process that the personal attribute is to be identified, eg application form, interview, tests, references, etc How should I use the Person Specification when completing my Job Application Form? You should refer to the personal attributes listed on the Person Specification Form and use them to state clearly how you meet each of them.You should start with the essential requirements and then the desirable requirements You should also demonstrate how you meet them (give examples) Failure to state how you meet an essential requirement (if identified as Application stage) will result in you not being shortlisted for interview/the next stage
