University of Texas & Texas Tech - OnRamps Dual Credit Program Information What can students and parents expect from the OnRamps course? A yearlong university-level learning experience delivered on a high school campus that challenges students to master content, assignments, and assessments developed by The University of Texas at Austin Exposure to curriculum, pedagogy, and technology that are experienced by students at the university The opportunity to earn three hours of college credit from The University of Texas at Austin or Texas Tech University that count toward the university’s required Core Curriculum and transfer to other colleges and universities Homework: The number of hours varies by course, but students will need to complete work outside of class to be successful in the program, since that is what is required at the college level A high school teacher who facilitates the course, has participated in extensive training, and receives ongoing, one-onone support from university faculty and staff A college instructor of record who will evaluate and provide feedback on students’ college-level work How high school students earn college credit? Students are enrolled in a yearlong course taught by their high school teacher for high school credit Throughout the year, the high school teacher uses OnRamps curriculum, pedagogy, and online learning tools to teach the high school course During the spring semester, students may be eligible to enroll in an undergraduate course for college credit DURING THE FALL SEMESTER: A student must complete a series of required assignments that are designated by the Instructor of Record The Instructor of Record evaluates students’ progress: A student must earn a grade of 75% or better on the required assignments to be eligible to be dual enrolled in a university course offered during the spring semester DURING THE SPRING SEMESTER: A student must complete a series of additional required assignments that are designated by the Instructor of Record to determine successful completion of the college course The Instructor of Record will award the student the appropriate grade based on the student’s performance The grade for the high school course may differ from that for the college course, as the assignments that determine each grade may be slightly different What UT dual credit courses are offered at MHS ? Chemistry College Credits offered during the spring semester Grades 11-12 What is the cost for dual credit courses through UT OnRamps ? For the 2019-2020 School Year, There will be a charge to enroll in the OnRamps Chemistry course The cost will be determined in the Fall 2019 Grants may be available to offset the cost of the course Does my child need to take TSI?
