Goodman, MA David Goodman serves as a Senior Manager of Global Corporate Services for DTZ Real Estate Advisory Company He runs a team of over 17 analysts serving multi-national corporate clients, assisting in the expansion of their business presence in China More specifically, David is responsible for several key clients‟ real estate portfolios in China DTZ was recently appointed as a sole agent for Pfizer, Asia Pacific He will be acting as transaction manager for Pfizer China, helping them expand their presence into Tier II, III, etc cities Goodman graduated from the University of Idaho in 2004 with dual Bachelors‟ degrees in Economics and International Relations While attending the University of Idaho, Goodman began his study of Chinese During his senior year Goodman was the recipient of the highly-competitive National Security Exchange Program grant for the study of critical languages He used this scholarship to travel to Beijing for an intensive Mandarin Chinese language program at the Capital University of Economics and Business Throughout his college career David excelled academically, selected for numerous honor societies including Omicron Delta Epsilon, Phi Beta Kappa, and Order of Omega Before graduating Goodman received the Outstanding Senior Award, reserved for the top ten graduating seniors Following his graduation from the University of Idaho, Goodman joined The Ohio State University Chinese Flagship Program where he researched international real estate in the Chinese market During his second year, Goodman received the National Security Exchange Program (NSEP) Graduate Fellowship During his time at OSU, Goodman interned with the Haier Corporation in Qingdao, China He then became a management assistant for the Sienna Commercial Qingdao Realty Advisor Company where he visited industrial and commercial sites, used Chinese language skills to obtain property information, performed marketing research on Qingdao commercial real estate market, and assisted in potential client leads Currently Goodman is resides in Shanghai, China where he is Senior Manager of Global Corporate Services for the DTZ Real-Estate Advisory Company Partners Branding Strategy Consulting Group in Shanghai, China Garner‟s duties include market research and analysis for Chinese clients and conducting brandpositioning training sessions in Chinese for clients All of the company's clients are Chinese companies giving Garner a firsthand insight into the Chinese market and Chinese business practices Garner has a passion for research and analysis which is the main focus of his duties at Ries & Partners China His experience with this company has given him a keen multicultural perspective and strengthened his Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language skills Garner‟s interest in East Asian languages began during high school During his senior year, he attended a Japanese high school where he communicated exclusively in Japanese After being accepted to the University of the Pacific, Garner realized the importance of China in the international community and decided to use his background in Japanese to begin the study of Chinese language He attended Nanjing University during his undergraduate studies This experience strongly influenced his interest in using Chinese to pursue a China-related career Garner‟s experience at the Chinese Flagship Program gave him a unique insight into Chinese language and its importance in an increasingly interconnected global community After joining The Ohio State University Chinese Flagship Program, Garner wanted to gain practical knowledge of Chinese business culture, high-level trade technical terms and negotiating practices in order to be at the core of daily-increasing US-East Asia economic integration To this end he pursued an internship with YiJia TongShang Import/Export Corp where his duties included translation of invoices, utilizing his Chinese to interact with Chinese coworkers, Vtion Wireless Technology Corporation as the Director of Investor Relations In this capacity his duties include working with company leadership and the board of directors to prepare for their initial public offering, helping maintain investor relations with private equity firms and individual investors from China, Hong Kong and Europe Burns also serves as an overseas business consultant for Sinaus Mining Ltd At Sinaus he assists in the process of acquiring iron and copper rights in both China and other countries, particularly Australia His primary responsibilities include contacting partners, trips to resource sites, and facilitating negotiations Burn‟s interest in Chinese began when he was a freshman in college, pairing a major in Chinese Language with a second major in International Affairs Because of his background in Chinese language and culture, Burns was recruited by the U.S.-China Economic Security Review Commission as a Research Associate At the U.S.-China Commission he monitored an array of China-related issues of importance to the commissioners Burns prepared weekly media briefings for the commissioners, and, prior to Congressional hearings, he compiled briefing John Kuzmik proceeded to the University of Michigan Law School Kuzmik is a leading China specialist and has practiced law in Beijing and Hong Kong for more than eighteen years Kuzmik's practice is focused on advising multinational corporations, developers, and lenders on all aspects of direct investment, finance, project finance, and trade matters involving China He is also extensively involved in counseling clients on investment strategies and structures, including advising strategic and financial investors in connection with China-related public and private mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, restructuring of existing enterprises, and registered capital transfers He is a fluent speaker of Mandarin Mr Kuzmik is a frequent speaker and writer on China-related topics capacity his duties primarily focus on helping the company enter the Chinese market and managing the company‟s new business assets therein He is currently in Clevland, Ohio, organizing projects designed to facilitate a smooth transition into the Chinese market He plans to travel to China in March with his company‟s CEO to interview some potential Chinese candidates to work with their new operation He plans to move completely to China in April An exceptional student since his youth, Psigoda graduated from high school two years early at the age of sixteen After high school graduation he enrolled in The Ohio State University majoring in Chinese While at OSU, Psigoda studied Korean and Japanese, spent time abroad in China, and worked as a sushi chef at a local restaurant, all while maintaining an exceptional GPA and a place on the Dean‟s List After graduating with a Bachelor‟s degree in Chinese and Japanese from The Ohio State University in 2007, Psigoda enrolled in The Ohio State University Chinese Flagship Program Following the completion of his first year, he proceeded to China to continue his study The second year of his program, in 2005, was spent as an intern with the Games and Services Department of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Committee In this capacity Psigoda translated numerous documents and served as a direct liaison between the Chinese government and Olympic teams from many different countries In 2007 Psigoda interned with the Sailing Committee (Qingdao) of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad In this position he served as one of only nine international volunteers of over 1700 total volunteers at the “Good Luck Beijing – 2007 SINOPEC Qingdao International Regatta” His responsibilities included attending press conferences, interviewing Olympic athletes, coaches, and race officials Most importantly this experience increased Psigoda‟s cultural understanding and gave him further insight into understanding the intricacies of Chinese culture, increasing his effectiveness in their cultural environment Immediately after graduating, Psigoda founded an online consulting company that facilitates the buying and China (HRIC) HRIC is a non-profit that focuses on the promotion of international human rights and advancing the institutional protection of these rights in the People‟s Republic of China In this capacity her duties included managing process flow of in-house and outsourced translation, managing HRIC publications, and developing new strategies for outreach and marketing Southerland is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and a 2005 graduate of the College of William and Mary She admits falling in love with the Chinese language, people, and culture while volunteering at an orphanage in Northeast China Throughout her undergrad and graduate career she specialized in the areas of psycholinguistics and Chinese-English translation Southerland‟s long term goal is to serve as a cultural program of Chinese language study that culminates in double bachelor‟s degrees and a master‟s degree in advanced Chinese Other responsibilities include helping to draft state-level foreign language policy initiatives such as the Ohio Language Roadmap and supporting high school level Chinese education in Ohio through the Chinese Flagship K12 office Involved in international activities since his youth, McAloon studied French and Spanish, spent a month in Ireland, visited Quebec, learned some Vietnamese, and used his Spanish with Latin American coworkers during a summer job After graduating with a degree in East Asian Studies from the College of William & Mary in 1998, McAloon interned in a Chinese state-owned shipping agency and then went on to become a manager in a US-based e-commerce interest in Chinese began when she took her first language class as a sophomore in college After graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor in Fine Arts, Kate moved to Liaoning province, where she served as a professor at Benxi Metallurgical College While in Benxi, Szewczyk researched and created teaching methods for various levels of students, gained ESL experience with grade school and high school students, and cultivated knowledge of the Chinese working environment and secondary education system Her experience in Liaoning helped to broaden her interest in Chinese of Chinese in the University of South Florida's Department of World Language Education Professor Shepherd graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in International Studies and Political Science He received his MA in East Asian Languages and Literatures and PHD in Chinese Language Pedagogy from The Ohio State University Professor Shepherd has taught all levels of Chinese language and culture at Ohio State, Wittenberg University, and Iowa State University Among the diverse range of courses Professor Shepherd has offered are Networking in China and America (a new course developed at the graduate level at OSU), Oral and Folk Literatures in Modern China (a new undergraduate course developed at ISU), Cinema in Contemporary Russia, China, and Brazil (a team-taught, interdisciplinary
