Point of information 18 You mentioned you had communicated the recision of the 19 900,000 to Evergen 20 way from them? 21 Was there any response in a formal CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Not to me Bob POST REPORTING SERVICE HAMDEN, CT (800) 262-4102 They may 4 RE: CT STEM CELL RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 18, 2008 have, but nothing crossed my desk or came in through any other media about their response to this unfortunate occurrence I don’t know if anything else happened MS MARIANNE HORN: We did receive an email back to the staff at the Department indicating that they wanted to see some copies of minutes of the special meeting and the fact that we referred them over to Connecticut Innovations to provide those and I believe that has been done And 10 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: 11 MS HORN: Correct then Dr Liu asked for a 12 little bit more detailed description of why the decision 13 was made which I sent to him and he thanked me for that, 14 indicated that they would be reapplying, and that was the 15 last that I heard from them 16 17 MR MANDELKERN: Did C.I hear anything independently? 18 MS CHELSEY SARNECKY: 19 MR DAN WAGNER: No We followed up with the 20 minutes, we forwarded the minutes to those to Jack in 21 particular, of Evergen We have two sets of minutes still POST REPORTING SERVICE HAMDEN, CT (800) 262-4102 RE: CT STEM CELL RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 18, 2008 to provide him, the one from the our telephonic meeting a couple of weeks ago and one from the subcommittee, Ethics and Law Subcommittee that haven’t been approved yet minutes and then we can distribute them So they just need to be finalized in terms of MR MANDELKERN: Thank you CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Alright We are now on item two, considering approval of minutes from the October 21st, ’08 meeting I presume everyone has reviewed those 10 and I will entertain comments to amend, change or add to 11 those particular meeting notes 12 questions or changes? Are there any such 13 DR MILTON WALLACK: 14 MR MANDELKERN: 15 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Move it’s passage Second it Okay The motion on the 16 floor is to approve the 10/21/08 meeting notes minutes 17 and we’re not talking about the 11/5, we’re just talking 18 about the October meeting 19 seconded 20 saying aye? 21 A motion has been made and All in favor of passing this motion indicate by VOICES: Aye POST REPORTING SERVICE HAMDEN, CT (800) 262-4102 RE: CT STEM CELL RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 18, 2008 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: The motion is passed We will now move to item three, and this is approval of the minutes from the 11 November 5th, ’08 special meeting, which was a telephonic meeting we will entertain any additions, deletions, changes, punctuation changes or the like, for that particular meeting DR WALLACK: MS HORN: 10 Move passage Commissioner, if I may I have one comment? 11 12 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Okay Can we second that and then we can talk about it 13 VOICE: 14 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: 15 And at this time I’ll second Thank you Okay, moved and seconded 16 MS HORN: Thank you On page four just 17 above public comment there is a sentence about the two 18 grants that were put into a reserve category and the 19 language in there that I apparently said was in the event 20 the Evergen escrow approval did not come to fruition, that 21 is not correct In the meeting of April 1st the grants POST REPORTING SERVICE HAMDEN, CT (800) 262-4102 RE: CT STEM CELL RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 18, 2008 were put into a reserve in case there was actually another grant that were concerned about and or any other grant did not the funding did not play out have the minutes changed to reflect that it was not particularly the Evergen escrow approval that was the reason for the grants going into the in the reserve category That would be more accurate So if we could DR WALLACK: Second the amendment to change 10 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Okay Does everybody 11 what are the changes that you how did you want to 12 phrase it, just strike it? 13 14 MS HORN: Yes, strike that, in the event that any grant 15 MR MANDELKERN: 16 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Generically I’m looking at the third 17 paragraph and I’m one, two, three lines down, were put 18 into the reserve category in the event and the change 19 it says now the Evergen escrow approval did not come to 20 fruition 21 What are the changes that you want Marianne? MS HORN: I would propose that in the POST REPORTING SERVICE HAMDEN, CT (800) 262-4102 RE: CT STEM CELL RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 18, 2008 event that any grant’s funding did not come to fruition DR MYRON GENEL: issue was there were a couple of escrow issues it was the Parkinson’s grant that we were that did not that we were more concerned with at the time MS HORN: I think as I recall the That’s correct I believe And I did go back and look at the transcript and I don’t recall which clairvoyant person on the Committee made this comment but there was a statement that it was not just one particular 10 grant that might fail, it might be if any grant was not 11 able to be funded 12 So DR GENEL: Well, wouldn’t a more specific 13 comment then be in the event that escrow approval was not 14 obtained by the grants approved? 15 issue really we approved funding pending escrow approval 16 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Because I think the I think we’re looking 17 for a little more generic statement 18 VOICE: Can I suggest you just strike it 19 after the word, category, period 20 the sentence 21 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Strike the remainder of So what you want to POST REPORTING SERVICE HAMDEN, CT (800) 262-4102 RE: CT STEM CELL RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 18, 2008 is say were put into the reserved category, period, and delete in the event the Evergen escrow approval did not come to fruition? MS HORN: CHAIRMAN GALVIN: VOICE: CHAIRMAN GALVIN: And you had a comment MR MANDELKERN: Well, that was I said That would be fine Is that okay? That’s fine Bob? 10 because generically we didn’t have escrow approval on any 11 grant that we had approved 12 funding 13 would move the acceptance of the minutes with that 14 correction 15 We needed the escrow before So I think that covers it and I would move I CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Okay I think that 16 we’ve been moved and seconded and everybody understands 17 what we’ve changed 18 as amended, this is the November telephonic meeting, 19 indicate by saying aye? All in favor of accepting the minutes 20 VOICES: 21 CHAIRMAN GALVIN: Aye Opposed? POST REPORTING SERVICE HAMDEN, CT (800) 262-4102 The motion is 10 RE: CT STEM CELL RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 18, 2008 carried Anybody online? Now what can we with the available folks?
