UNIT 8: FILMS Lesson 6: SKILL2 I OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: - listen for special information about a comedy; - write a short paragraph about your favorite film Knowledge: - Vocabulary: adjectives to describe films, aspects of a film - Grammar: review ( The present simple tense) Competence: - Develop communication skills and creativity Quality/ behavior : - Have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork - Actively join in class activities II TEACHING AIDS: - Teacher: Text book, laptop, louspeaker, projector… - Students : Text books, studying equipments… - Method;: T-WC; group works; individual …… III PROCEDURE: Warm- up (5’) *Aims: - To develop student’s listening skills for specific information It also provides input for the writing skills * Content: Having some warm-up activities to creat a friendly and relaxed atmostphere to inspire Ss to warm up to the new lesson * Product: Having a chance to speak English and focus on the topic of the lesson Teacher’s and Ss’activities Content + Greeting + Chatting + Greeting + Chatting - Teacher (T) asks Ss to play game: - T_ Ss “Name the comedy” by: + Teacher divides the class into groups - Students (Ss) listen and watch and shows them a video of some the films comedies + After the video, teacher asks students to pass the chalk and take turns to run to the board and write down the name of the films that appeared in the video + Students take turns to run to the board and write down the name of the films appeared in the video +Teacher allows students to cross check first +Teacher confirms the answers and gives feedback - Ask Ss to open their book and introduce what they are going to study… - T leads in the lesson - Write down the name of the films that appeared in the video - Students to cross check first - Listening LISTENING ACTIVITY 1: Pre-listening (5’) *Aim: To help Ss develop their skill of listening for specific information * Content: Listen to video to wake up students’ interest * Product: Ss are able to listen and discuss the things they hear correctly Teacher’s and Ss’activities Content Task 1: T - Ss, Ss - SS TASK 1: WORK IN PAIRS AND DISCUSS (Exercise 1, p 89) * Teacher asks students what type of - Work in pairs Discuss the films are in the video in the previous following question: activity - What you like / dislike about ** Students quickly discuss with a a comedy? partner *** Teacher asks what they like/ dislike comedies and why/ why not **** Teacher gives feedback ACTIVITY : While-listening (10’) Aims: To draw students attention to listening skills: predicting, identifying keywords and listening for specific details To help students develop listening skills for specific information * Content: Listen again and focus on the predicted keywords to find out the answer * Product: Ss can answer the questions correctly To improve listening skills Teacher’s and Ss’activities Content Task 2: T - Ss, Ss - Ss TASK (Exercise 2, p 89).Mark and Hoa are talking about the film * Teacher plays the recording Naughty Twins Listen to their ** Students listen and focus on the conversation Who stars in the predicted keywords to find out the answer *** Teacher allows students to peer check first **** Teacher confirms the answers and gives feedback film?
