Singapore, Campuchia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thái Lan và Việt Nam và bằng chứng về mối quan hệ này khá yếu ở Đơng Timor. Trong khi đó, hai chuỗi dữ liệu thời gian lạm phát và lãi suất có đồng liên kết phi tuyến được phát hiện ở Brunei. Tuy nhiên, bài nghiên cứu khơng tìm được bằng chứng gì về sự tồn tại của hiệu ứng Fisher tại Myanmar. Phần lớn các phát hiện từ phương pháp kiểm định đồng liên kết Johansen và mơ hình hiệu chỉnh sai số vector VECM cho thấy mối quan hệ cùng chiều giữa lạm phát và lãi suất nhưng mối quan hệ 1:1 là khơng tìm thấy. Những phát hiện này khá phù hợp với các nghiên cứu trước đây tại Mỹ và các quốc gia đang phát triển Mỹ Latin. Đặc biệt ở hai quốc gia Singapore và Malaysia, hệ số ước lượng âm dẫn đến mối quan hệ tỳ lệ nghịch giữa lạm phát và lãi suất. Điều này đi ngược với những phát hiện của Fisher khi Fisher cho rằng trong dài hạn, lãi suất danh nghĩa sẽ thay đổi bằng với chênh lệch trong lạm phát.. Tuy nhiên, những phát hiện lại giống với Nam (1993) khi ông cho rằng hiệu ứng thanh khoản (hiệu ứng làm giảm lãi suất khi tăng cung tiền) lấn át hiệu ứng Fisher trong dài hạn và kết quả nghiên cứu của Zilberfarb(1989) khi ông phát hiện ra những bằng chứng về mối tương quan ngược chiều giữa lạm phát và lãi suất. Kết quả tìm được khơng thật sự đồng nhất ở các quốc gia đang phát triển khu vực Asean, tuy nhiên những phát hiện này lại khá phù hợp với các bài nghiên cứu thực nghiệm trước đây ở các quốc gia đang phát triển Mỹ Latin. Mặc dù các nước trong phạm vi nghiên cứu có tình hình kinh tế tương đối giống nhau nhưng thị trường có độ hiệu quả khác nhau nên dẫn đến mối quan hệ giữa lạm phát và lãi suất cũng sẽ khác nhau. Tử đó, sự điều chỉnh trong dài hạn cũng sẽ khác nhau, điều này đã được thể hiện qua kết quả từ mơ hình VECM. Hơn nữa, tuy lạm phát và lãi suất ở một số quốc gia có mối quan hệ trong dài hạn nhưng không tồn tại hiệu ứng Fisher khi hệ số ước lượng khác 1. Điều này có thể lý giải bằng sự khơng hoàn hảo của thị trường. Bằng chứng về mối quan hệ giữa lạm phát và lãi suất đưa ra những gợi ý cho các nhà đầu tư, các nhà chính sách khi nhìn nhận phân tích nền kinh tế vĩ mơ và đặc biệt khi đưa ra các chính sách tiền tệ cần lưu ý đến sự hội tụ về điểm cân bằng trong dài hạn của hai biến kinh tế
này. Khi nhà kinh tế muốn đề ra chính sách nhằm thay đổi lạm phát hay lãi suất thì nên xem xét đến đỗ trệ cũng như mức độ tác động của các cú sốc ngoại sinh. Tóm lại, bài nghiên cứu đã tìm hiểu mối quan hệ giữa lạm phát và lãi suất, từ đó có những phát hiện về sự tồn tại của hiệu ứng Fisher tại các quốc gia Đông Nam Á và cho thấy tầm quan trọng của mối quan hệ này cần được tiếp cận sâu hơn để cung cấp thêm những bằng chứng mạnh mẽ hơn.
KẾT LUẬN
Bài nghiên cứu kiểm định sự tồn tại của hiệu ứng Fisher tại 10 quốc gia đang phát triển khu vực Đông Nam Á (bao gồm Brunei, Campuchia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore, Philippines, Thái Lan, Đông Timor và Việt Nam). Cụ thể, mục tiêu của bài nghiên cứu là phân tích mối quan hệ giữa lạm phát và lãi suất ở các quốc gia Asean trong giai đoạn từ năm 2000 đến năm 2013 bằng các phương pháp kiểm định kinh tế lượng. Phương pháp Johansen cho phép phát hiện mối liên hệ đồng liên kết tuyến tính giữa các biến và thuật toán ACE cho phép chuyển đổi các biến để kiểm định mối liên hệ phi tuyến giữa chúng. Cuối cùng, mơ hình VECM được áp dụng để phân tích về cân bằng dài hạn giữa lạm phát và lãi suất. Kết quả kiểm định cho thấy chuỗi dữ liệu ở Singapore và Đông Timor dừng bậc 0 trong khi ở quốc gia còn lại dừng bậc 1. Ở hầu hết các quốc gia đang phát triển khu vực Đông Nam Á, bài nghiên cứu tìm được mối quan hệ đồng liên kết giữa lạm phát và lãi suất. Trong đó, mối quan hệ này là tuyến tính ở sáu quốc gia Campuchia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thái Lan và Việt Nam và là mối quan hệ đồng liên kết phi tuyến ở Brunei. Khơng có bằng chứng về sự tồn tại của hiệu ứng Fisher tại Myanmar. Trên cơ sở này, các nhà đầu tư và các nhà chính sách cần có cái nhìn rõ hơn về mối quan hệ giữa lạm phát và lãi suất để cân nhắc, xem xét khi đưa ra những giải pháp, chính sách thích hợp khi điều hành nền kinh tế vĩ mô.
