And you, yourself,canmake your idealsbecomerealities. Faithisthesubstanceofthingshopedfor.Idealsarethesubstanceof thethingsthatare. WHATCOMPACTNESSOFMATTERGIVESTO YOUR IDEALS CHAPTER3 Your ideasarealwayschanging and youareeverchanging your attitude regardingthem.Why?Theyhaveno form,nobodyofspiritualsubstance;beingwithoutbody,theyare notions and verychangeablenotionsatthat. Theconfusion and jammingofthemob attwotransferstationsweresogreatthatscoresofwomenfainted, and manywereseriouslyhurt.Morethana millionpeoplelosttheirheads-morethanamillionwereconfusedfor weeks.Itwasnecessarytoclosethecrosstown subwayforamonthtopreventaccidents-actuallytopreventpeople killingthemselves and eachother, becauseoftheirconfusedmobaction. Then,idealize your attitudetowardothers,"Thatwhichyeseekyeshall find."Ifyouthinkthatallmenaretrying tocrushyou,youwillbecrushed;first,because your attitudecloses your eyestotheopportunitiesofferedyou; and second,becausesuchanattitudediscovers and drawstoyouthosewho donothelpyou.Ifyouidealize othersaswillingtohelpyou,youdrawtoyoumen and womenwhowilldo thesquarethingbyyou and helpyou, -inthemyouwillfindhelp and ajustreward.Thisidealizedattitude doesnotmakeyouatrustingsimpleton,for theidealizedattitudealsoidealizeswisdominknowingothers. Theidealizedattitudechangesalltheconditionsoflife.Inbusiness, itleadsustoexpectgoodresults, and, expectinggoodresults,weplanbetter.Whenweplanbetter,-thatis, in,amoreidealizedway-wegetbetter results.Idealizetheworldingeneral.Theuniversemustbegood.Ifit werenotgooditwouldgotopiecesover night,-forevildisrupts and destroys.Goodattracts and unites and holdstogether. Youcannotidealize your business, your profession and your workwithout conductingthewholeaffairasan idealizedservicethatinevitablywillforce your idealstocometrue! YoumayidealizetheThingDesired, down.Oneacrossthetable,onebesideme.LaterIlearnedthatonewasa coaloperatorofIndiana, and theother, -well,therestofthestoryconcernstheotherman. Onelookatthismantoldmehewasnotaso-called“manofideals,”- thatis,notinaccordwiththeordinaryuse oftheterm.Helookedveryprosperous;hewastalkative-menarealways morecommunicativeafterdinner, smokingagoodcigar,onatrainwithnothingelsetodo.Thismanisthe soap-dyekingoftheworld.Onlyafew yearsagohe and afriend,hiswife and hisfriend'swife,startedin businessmakingsoap-dyes.Altogetherthey had$800.Todayeachofthemismorethanamillionaire.Theirsoap-dyes sellfortencentsapackage,yetthey doabusinessofmanyhundredthousanddollarsamonth.Theysecuredthe originalpatent and consequently,in additiontotheprofitstheymakefromtheirownconcern,theyarepaid royaltiesbyallothersoap-dyecompanies. "Thinkwhatitmeans,"hesaid,"foreverywomanintheland-infact, allovertheworld,fornowwe'reselling soap-dyestoEurope,Australia,India and Japan-tobeableintwo minutestochangethecolorofhershirtwaist, ofapieceoflace,oranylighttrimmingmerelybydippingitinour dye,withoutanyboiling, and without stainingherhands."
