case study Increase Network Flexibility Customer: A national cable television company needs to increase their headend fiber flexibility and add to their existing OSP network as their business grows beyond traditional CATV to encompass competitive access (CAP), data and video distribution services. The Existing Network: • Serves approximately 1.5 million cable subscribers • Services over fiber, at SONET rate, in point-to-point architecture • Utilizes a variety of SONET, digital video and fiber distribution frame equipment Requirements: They must be able to reroute, redirect, change or add services only when and where needed, as subscription rates vary dramatically.
