the Cables About This Chapter  Note Before installing cables, remove the side doors and the front door Install the side doors and the front door after installing all cables and fibers Refer to Chapter 12 "Installing the Doors of the Cabinet" This chapter describes how to install and route cables The cables of the OptiX OSN 3500 are divided into internal cables and external cables Internal cables are used for connecting electrical interfaces in one cabinet They have been installed or routed in the cabinet before shipment and delivered together with the cabinet External cables are used for connecting electrical interfaces of one cabinet with those of other cabinets or peripherals The following table lists the contents of this chapter Section Description 9.1Installing and Routing the 9.1.1 Connection of the Power Cables Power cables are divided into cabinet power cables and subrack power cables The subrack power cables have been connected to the power distribution unit at delivery for the right four sockets Generally the OptiX OSN 3500 uses sockets and Sockets and are used for power supply of other equipment in the cabinet Power Cables and PGND Cable Figure 1.1 describes the colors and types of power cables and PGND cable The PGND cable and power cable between the cabinet and the power supply equipment have no roundabout twists or turns Figure 1.1 Colors and types of Routing the Cables 9.7.2 Procedure for Upward Cabling Purpose This procedure guides you to connect and route the clock cables between the subrack and other equipment Tools/Materials 75-ohm external clock cables 120-ohm external clock cables 120-ohm/75-ohm clock transit cables (optional) Labels for external clock cables Cable ties Prerequisites The clock input/output equipment in the equipment room has been installed, with interfaces reserved for use Required/As needed Required if the clock cables are upward routed Step Measure and cut the clock cables according to the cabling route between the cabinet and other equipments Step Attach temporary labels to both ends of the cables Step Route the clock cables into the cabinet through the cabling holes on the top of the cabinet Step Route the clock cables downward along the side of the cabinet to the cable distribution plate Step Route the clock cables through the cable distribution plate and connect them to the clock interfaces on the AUX 120-ohm external clock cables 120-ohm/75-ohm clock transit cables (optional) Labels for external clock cables Cable ties Prerequisites The clock input/output equipment in the equipment room has been installed, with interfaces reserved for use Required/As needed Required if the clock cables are downward routed Step Measure and cut the clock cables according to the cabling route between the cabinet and other equipments Step Attach temporary labels to both ends of the cables Step Route the clock cables into the cabinet through the cabling holes on the bottom of the cabinet Step Route the clock cables upward along the side of the cabinet to the cable distribution plate Step Route the clock cables through the cable distribution plate and connect them to the clock interfaces on the AUX board Routing Network Cables This section guides you to make and install network cables 9.8.1 Network Cables and Interfaces The network cables fall into two types: crossover cables and straight-through cables Either the straight-through cable or crossover cable can be used for connection Network Cables Both the straight-through cable and the crossover cable are terminated with RJ-45 connectors See Figure 1.1 Figure 1.1 Straight-through or crossover network cable Management Interfaces Figure 1.2 shows the management interfaces on the AUX board The management interface for extension subrack is to connect and route the network cables between the subrack and the management system Tools/Materials Cross or straight network cables Labels for network cables Cable ties Prerequisites The management system has been installed properly, with interfaces reserved for use Required/As needed Required if the network element is the gate network element Step Measure and cut the network cables according to the cabling route between the cabinet and management system or the hub Step Attach temporary labels to both ends of the cables Step Route the network cables into the cabinet through the cabling holes on the top of the cabinet Step Route the network cables downward along the side of the cabinet to the cable distribution plate Step Route the network cables through the cable distribution plate and Extended Subrack Cables This section describes the procedure and precautions for connecting subrack cables In this section, the main subrack and the extended subrack are installed in one cabinet The main subrack is at the cabinet bottom, but the extended subrack at the upper part of the cabinet 9.9.1 Connection of the Extended Subrack Cables The extended subrack can add/drop up to 504 x E1 services For details of the extended subrack, refer to OptiX OSN 3500 Intelligent Optical Transmission System Technical Manual System Description Figure 1.1 shows the connection between the main the extended subrack cables Extended Subrack Cables Figure 1.2 shows the extended subrack cables It needs four extended subrack cables to connect the main subrack and the extended subrack In addition, Extended subrack cables The extended subrack cable can be 1.9 m or m long Select a proper type according to the survey If finding the cable is too long or too short, contact the local office of Huawei Technologies for replacement It is forbidden to coil redundant cable in the cabinet Extended Subrack Interfaces The extended subrack interfaces are on the UXCSB board of the main subrack and the XCE This procedure guides you to connect and route the cables between the main subrack and the extended subrack Tools/Materials Extended subrack cables Crossover network cable Labels Prerequisites The subrack and the extended subrack are installed properly in the cabinet with interfaces reserved for use Required/As needed Required if the extended subrack is installed  Note There is a jumper (identified as J9) at the right bottom corner of the AUX board When a jumper cap covers the jumper, the subrack is the main subrack If there is no cap, the subrack is an extended one Step Attach subrack cable to the EXA interfaces on the UXCSB board of the main subrack Step Insert the extended subrack cable downward to the cabling trough of the main subrack and then route it leftward Step Lead the extended subrack cable out of the cabling trough of the main subrack and then upward along the cabinet cabling channel to the cabling trough of the extended subrack Step Route the extended subrack cable rightward to the XCE board of the extended subrack and then connect the cable to the EXA interface of the XCE board Step Repeat steps 2–5 to connect the other three cables between the extended subrack and the main subrack Step Connect the "EXT" interface of the AUX board on the main subrack to the "EXT" interface of the AUX board on the extended subrack with a crossover cable Step Remove the temporary labels on the cables Step Fill in the cable labels referring to Appendix D "Engineering Labels for Cables" Step 10 Attach the cable labels cm away from the connectors at the two
