Note
Remove the side doors andthe front door before installingandrouting cables.
Reinstall all these doors after installingandrouting all cables and fibers. Refer to
Chapter 12 "Installing the Doors of the Cabinet".
This chapter guides you to install and route fiber jumpers.
The fiberjumpers of the OptiX OSN 3500 are divided into internal fiberjumpers
and external fiber jumpers.
Internal fiberjumpers are used for connecting optical interfaces within a cabinet.
While external fiberjumpers are used for connecting optical interfaces of a
cabinet with those of other cabinets or peripherals.
The following table lists the contents of this chapter.

The fiberjumpers are used to connect the optical boards on one subrack with
those in other cabinets or other equipment. All fiberjumpers can be transferred by
an external optical distribution frame (ODF).

This section describes the procedure to install and route external fiber jumpers.
The corrugated pipe is used to protect the fibers between the cabinet andthe ODF.

There are fiber holes on the top and bottom of the cabinet. Route thefiber jumpers
through thefiber holes.
Figure 1.1 and Figure 1.2 show thefiber holes.

When routingfiberjumpers outside the cabinet, a corrugated pipe or a winding
pipe must be added for protecting thefiber jumpers.
One corrugated pipe can contain 12–15 pieces of fiber jumpers. One 12 mm
winding pipe can wind thirty pieces of fiber jumpers, while one 6 mm winding

pipe can wind eighteen pieces.
In this section the corrugated pipe is taken as an example.
Appropriate length of the corrugated pipe is required. This length is the distance
from the cabinet to the ODF plus the length the pipe will extend into the cabinet
and the ODF (so long as thefiberjumpers do not touch the upper beam when
routing inside the cabinet).

Required if thefiberjumpers are upward routed.
Caution
The bend radius of thefiber jumper must be greater than its minimum curvature
radius. Specifically, the minimum curvature radius for the 2 mm fiber jumper is
40 mm, and that for the 3 mm fiber jumper is 60 mm.
Note
Routing thefiberjumpers on the right of the cross-connect and timing board is
taken as an example in the description below. Routing on the left side is the same.
+ Attach temporary labels to both ends of thefiber jumpers.
+ Measure and cut the corrugated pipe and wrap the incision with adhesive tape to
protect thefiber jumpers.
+1 Route thefiber jumper through the corrugated pipe. It is forbidden to force the
fiber jumper in.
+ Route the corrugated pipe into the cabinet (3cm) through thefiber hole on the top
of the cabinet.
+5 Route thefiberjumpers downward along thefiber path on the right of the cabinet
and then into the subrack cabling trough. See Figure 1.1.
