Method Statement for Field Survey POS-MS-FS-A1-EN 157 245 - 257 Total: 258 pages General This method statement describes the method of Field Survey for NOI BAI - LAO CAI Highway Project - Package A1 such as setting out control points, construction points, survey for construction and topographic survey Definition of Key Word is as follows Base Point(s) : point that will be used as a base, GPS Point, Control Point, Construction Point can be a Base Point Bench Mark(s) : point which has known data Control Point(s) : point that will be used for setting road centerline, pier centerline, and Construction Point Construction Point(s): point that will be used for construction works such as bored pile, substructure, superstructure, bridge surface, and embankment works This point will be set out from Control Points GPS Point(s) : point that is given by the Employer which are GPS01, GPS02, GPS03B, GPS04B, GPS06, GPS07, GPS08 and GPS09 Total Station : a surveying instrument that can measure azimuth angle and distance All the survey work shall follow general specifications of the contract, standard 22TCN-262-2000 and 22TCN-263-2000 Description of Field Survey The description of Field Survey include following 4-kinds of survey works 1) Setting Out Control Points _ Revision A1, 18th May 2009 Page Method Statement for Field Survey POS-MS-FS-A1-EN Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway Project Package A1: Civil Works 2) Setting Out Construction Points 3) Field Survey for Construction Work 4) Topographic Survey The minimum surveying personnel per one team is as bellow: Surveyor: Survey Assistant: person persons Setting Out of Control Points 3.1 General Control Points will be used as Base Points for setting out center of road, center of piers, center of structure, and Construction Points Control Points will be set out using GPS Points given by the Employer And GPS Points themselves are used as Control Points Refer to Network of Control Points (See Appendix I) Control Points newly set will have data of coordinates (N, E) and elevation as well 3.2 Accuracy of Field Survey Accuracy of the survey work applied shall be accordance with the general specificatios of the contract by the following table: Construction Surveying and Staking Tolerances Horizont a (mm) Staking Phase Control points 1/10,000 Centerline points (a) - (PC), (PT), (POT), and (POC) including references line points are point of curve (PC), point of tangent (PT) and point on curve (POC) (b) Take the cross sections normal to the centerline within ±1 degree (0.02 rad) 3.3 Setting Out Work 3.3.1 Method Before setting out, firstly the given GPS point shall be checked coordinate by GPS with Surveyor of Consultant and/or Engineer Basically transverse survey method will be applied for the Control Points Network Especially triangulation will be applied to the structure portion for Control Points Network The plan of Control Points Network is shown in Appendix II Adjustment for coordinate and/or meridian shall be considered with Engineer’s instruction Method of adjustment shall be proposed in the report of Control Point Network Survey, if necessary Locations that satisfy the conditions listed below will be the Control Points a) where heavy machines will not work during construction works b) stiff ground c) good perspective _ Revision A1, 18th May 2009 Page Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway Project Package A1: Civil Works Method Statement for Field Survey POS-MS-FS-A1-EN d) not to be submerged during rainy season In addition, Control Points will be set on top of each pier after the erection work was finished Basically, the structure of Control Points is in accordance with Highway Survey Codes 22TCN263-2000; however, types of structure as below will be adopted considering the ground condition or surroundings Type 1: Type 2: Type 3: Type 4: For Stiff Ground Position of which elevation will be same as water level, though it will not be submerged Position which will be submerged during rainy center of it or on parallel line of that center line Each of the Control Points will be drawn by cross line using carpenter’s ink pad, and it will be protected by coating with lacquer Although some of the surface of structure will be roughed finishing, surfacing by steel trowel will be done only for the Control Point area, and chipping will be executed after it is not necessary Direction line will setting out on land is as follows Reconnaissance, location selection for Control Points Setting out stakes made of wood Confirmation that the sight has no problem with using transit Setting out points (casting concrete or stage erection by block as shown in fig 1) Execute triangulation or traverse survey using Total Station Decision of coordinates for each Control Point Elevation survey Decision of elevation for each Control Point Procedure for setting out on pier is as follows Points on pier will be on the centerline of structure In case of the first Control Points setting on pier, or in case of no Control Points on pier are not available, new Control Points will be set out by using original Control Points In case that there is available Control Points on pier, new Control Points will be set by using that Control Points After that, set the Total Station on the new Control Point, the distance and angle of the Control Points on land will be used for checking and set the centerline of structure as base line In case that Control Points are set after completion of pier erection, it will be confirmed as follows a) Cross distance between the Control Points and a Control Points on pier of next line by Steel Measuring Tape b) Setting of the Total Station on a newly made Control Point, and looking at the most far Control Point on centerline of structure, then Control Points among these Control Points will be confirmed whether they are on structure centerline or not c) If the results of a) and b) is good enough, structure centerline will be drawn on the front and top of nearest pier Right angle direction will be drawn on the top of nearest pier as well If necessary, the offset points for control points shall be set in order to check them and relocated them _ Revision A1, are set a) Checking by eyes Control Points will be checked once weeks by eyes The matters for checking are whether there is a wheel track or trace of excavation, and whether there is relaxation or not b) Checking by field survey Control Points will be checked at once per months or at the time of Engineer’s instruction by traverse survey and/or triangulation method The period is March and September after rainy season ends The method of survey is same as setting Control Points and Control Points on bridge structure will be checked as well Relaxation of foundation will be checked especially after rain season ends If there is a Control Point that cannot be utilized any more, new Control Point will be set out again Setting Out of Construction Points 4.1 General Construction Points are utilized for actual construction work such as bored pile, cofferdam, pile cap, pier, superstructure, embankment and work for roads and bridge surface Construction Points will be set out based from Control Points 4.2 Accuracy of Field Survey Accuracy for Construction Points is same as those of Control Points 4.3 Setting out Work 4.3.1 Method Construction Points will be set out from Control Points including GPS Points First of all, Base Line will be set using Control Points and field survey for setting out Construction Points will be executed based on the Base Line using Total Station During the setting out work for Construction Points, checking will be done as follows a) Confirmation will be done using other Base Line b) Construction Points will be set on parallel line of bridge and roads centerline Total Station will be set on this line, and setting out will be executed with confirming the straightness for each Construction Point c) Confirmation of the straightness will be checked when every group of Construction Points for a Base Line ends, and more than groups of Construction Points for Base Lines will be checked at a time 4.3.2 Location _ Revision A1, 18th May 2009 Substructure and Embankment a) Stiff Ground, and the points where no heavy equipment working during construction works Offset points those are used for check piling work, excavation, cofferdam work, pile cap construction, pier erection, and road works will be set out b) Superstructure Control Points on each pier top will be used as Construction Points These points are used for check superstructure works such as setting bearing, girder and so on c) Bridge Surface Work Construction Points will be set on the top of girder completed with checking from Control Points on the ground and on pier 4.3.3 Checking Construction Points will be checked when using Each Construction Points will be arranged on a line; therefore, straightness will be checked from any Construction Points If displacement is found, the Construction Point will not be used, and new Construction Point will be set out again 4.3.4 Protection Construction Points will not be come out from ground, and they will be protected by stakes with thin wooden plates as shown below The point number and coordinates will be written on the thin wooden plates _ Revision A1, 18th May 2009 Page 10 Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway shown below 5.1 Bridge works 5.1.1 Substructure 1) Bored Pile 2) Excavation 3) Pile Cap Pier (at Base) 4) Pier (at Top) 5) 5.1.2 Superstructure 1) Bearing Girder Setting 2) 5.2 Underpass works 5.2.1
