Soneplex ® HDSL OEM Subassembly The Soneplex HDSL Subassembly (HLXS) provides a simple, efficient way to incorporate HDSL transport capability into virtually any type of T1-compatible telecommunications equipment without costly HDSL hardware or software development. The HLXS, designed to be used as a daughter board in a host system application, performs all the signal processing and control functions required for the HDSL transport of a 1.544 Mbps payload signal over two unconditioned, non-loaded copper pairs for up to 12,000 feet. ADC’s Soneplex system is the lowest total cost solution for carriers to grow their T1-based business services. Focused on providing flexible, end-to-end solutions, the Soneplex system saves money on T1-based services over copper or fiber, using HDSL, ADSL, traditional T1 repeater or Optical DS2 technology in a single platform. From operations, maintenance, provisioning, and high-speed backbone connections to central office space and cabling, the Soneplex system is designed to take costs out of today’s T1 delivery approach, adding profit to your bottom line. Features: • Meets or exceeds Bellcore requirements as defined in TA-NWT-001210 and FA-NWT-001211 • Supports both central office and remote HDSL operation • Supports both local and remote loopback capability • Interfaces to bipolar T1 signals • Interconnects to host system via single 32-pin connector • Provides both a discrete signal (parallel) and a serial port interface for communication to the host system 9/03 • 497 Soneplex ® HDSL OEM Subassembly Soneplex ® HDSL OEM Subassembly Description 2 www.adc.com • +1-952-938-8080 The HLXS is a self-contained sub-system that manages all aspects of HDSL transmission, allowing HDSL transport capability to be integrated into any T1-compatible telecommunications product, from digital loop carrier systems to channel boxes to T1 test equipment. All that’s required is a 1.544 Mbps payload signal interface from the host system with clock and an optional frame pulse. The HLXS connects to the host system via a single 32-pin connector. Host activation is not required; the HLXS conducts a complete self-test upon power-up and automatically synchronizes within 30 seconds to the HDSL equipment at the opposite end. The HLXS supports both central office (HTU-C) and remote (HTU-R) HDSL operation and transports either framed or unframed data. It’s compatible with ADC’s complete line of standard HDSL products, including the Soneplex system modules, repeaters, and remote units. Traditional Digital Loop Carrier Model Standard digital loop carrier applications require an office repeater bay (ORB) for converting T1s delivered from the central office terminal (COT) to HDSL. The HDSL remote shelf at the far end must convert the HDSL signal back to T1 for acceptance by the remote terminal (RT). Digital Loop Carrier Model Using HDSL Subassembly With ADC's HDSL OEM Subassembly, the T1-to-HDSL conversion is performed within the COT and RT, eliminating the need for both the ORB and the HDSL remote shelf.
