I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson,Ps will be able to:
- Recognize and pronounce the letter Pp and its sound correctly - Understand, recognize and say the three Pp words

1 Organization (1’) - Greeting
- Check Ps’ attendance

- Put up the phonics cards (olive, orange, omelette, octopus) on the board - Write the first and last letter below each phonics card
- Ask individual pupils to come to the board and complete the words - Ask the rest of the class for verification

Activity (8’): Introduction of letter p, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Pp.
- Write on board the letter Pp and say: “This is the letter P /pi:/ The letter P says /p/.”
- Repeat several times and check pupils’ pronunciation (letter P /pi:/ and its sound)
- Use the phonics cards with pen, panda and
1 Listen, point and repeat Colour.
(2)parrot, say the words aloud and have pupils repeat
- Use gestures to help pupils to understand the meanings of the three words
- Stick the cards on board and have pupils repeat Call some pupils to say the words aloud
- Ask Ps to open their books and colour the letters Game (3’):
- Divide the class into two teams
- Put one of the phonics cards on the board
- Ask a pupil from the first team to identify the sound and the picture (two points)
- Continue with a pupil from the second team - Write the points for each team on the board Activity (5’): Read the words with “please”
- Have Ps look at the book and listen to the words: a pen, a panda, a parrot
- Have Ps listen and repeat the words
- Ask the Ps to look at the pairs of pictures on the side and choose the correct one
- Go around the classroom and help Follow up: Speed Race Game (5’)
- Put three chairs in front of the board
- Divide the class into teams; call one student of each team to stand up
- Put a phonics card on each chair
- Read one of the three words aloud Ps sit on the chair with the corresponding phonics card
- The fastest pupil will get point for his/her team Activity (5’):
- Use the phonics cards on the board and have pupils sing the chant with pen Do the same with panda and parrot.
- The whole class sings the whole chant
- Do the chant again using gestures for each word

Activity 2: Saying the Sight Words (4’)
- Point to and say the sight words: Can I have a please thank you
- Have pupils repeat
- Have some pupils read them aloud Activity 3: Singing (Track 18) (8’)
- Put the pen, panda and parrot phonics cards up on the board
- Point to the pen and say: “Can I have a pen, please?” The students repeat.
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song
- Play the CD The students listen and sing along - Play the CD again The students sing and
corresponding actions Game: Guessing game (5’)
- Divide the class into two teams A and B - Ask a pupil to come to the board
- Whisper one word (e.g: pen) to him/her
- Without speaking, the pupil draws a picture of the word on the board
- The first team to guess the word wins a point - Repeat the activity with as many pupils as you
think is necessary
