-Stick a poster of adverbs and articles on the board -Divide the class into teams

-Get students from teams to go to the board and write the pairs of adverbs or articles in direct speech and reported speech

*Answers : this -> that these -> those

-Revision of modal verbs : Ask students to name some modal verbs with their meanings

Eg : must / have to : phải làm

-Ask students to give the form of modal verbs Form : S + modal verbs + Vinfi

-Ask students to exercise 1P38 individually then pairs compare

-Call on some students to give their answers *Answers :

“ I am happy to see you ” (Aunt Xuan ) ->Aunt Xuan said she was happy to see you -Ask students to work in pairs to exercise 3P39

-Call on some students present their answers in front of the class

-In reported questions we don’t use the auxilary verbs ( / did / does )

-When there is no question word ( what / why / when ) we use If / Whether to introduce a reported question

-In reported questions, the words order is the same as in the statements and we don’t use a question mark

-Ask students to work in pairs to exercise 4P39 -Call on some students to give their answers
