LESSON 4: B1-2 A.Objectives:

1 Aims:

- Know the words about the activities at recess - Describe the recess in the pictures or in the school

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk about recess activities, using the present progressive tense

2 Practice skill:

- Further practice listening, reading and speaking skill 3 The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge:

- Know the words about the activities at recess

- Ask and answer about the activities which are happening in the pictures + Advanced knowledge: Describe the recess in their class

4 Basic language:

- Vocabulary: bell, recess, blindman’s bluff, catch, marbles, rope, excited, like, go into, indoors, to chat, to play catch / marbles / blindman’s bluff, to skip rope

- Structure: Present simple tense and present progressive tense 5 Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading, speaking nd exercises using present progressive tense

Step 2: Practice: ( 17’) *Picture cue drill:

Ask students to look at the pictures on page 56 and ask and answer about what they are doing at recess

Ask ss to look at part B2 and present the

aim

Set the scene: Mai, Kien, Lan and Ba are at

the recess at school

Have students listen to the tape Play the tape ( 3times)

Ask ss to match on the extra board Ask others to remark and correct Remark and give out the answer key Answer keys:

Mai – is playing catch

Kien – is playing blindman’s bluff with some friends

Lan – is skipping rope Ba – is playing marbles

Tape transcript:

“ It is recess and the yard is very crowded and noisy Mai and Ba are

playing catch, Kien is playing blindmand’s bluff with some friends Ba is playing marble and Lan is skipping rope They are all having activities good time.”

Step 3: Production (10’) Write it up : Get students to look at the pictures on page 56 and write about what they are doing at recess

Take some writings and ask them to read aloud before the class

Eg: It is the time at recess The students go outdoors They look happy The boys… IV: Summary: (2’)
