A.The objectives. 1 The aims

By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to read and understand the model letter and underline the structures of the letter and the write a letter of inquiry ( a formal letter)

+ Standard : Read and understand the model letter and underline the structures of the letter

+ Higher : Write about a letter of inquiry using the outline Language contents:

a.Vocabulary: edition, detail, fee, look forward to, hear.

b.Structures : Past simple, present simple, structures of a letter Attitude: Educate ss to learn hard and be polite to older people B Preparations

Teacher: lesson plan, English 9-book, projector

Students: review the grammar points and vocabulary, a sheet of white paper

C Techniques : -Asking and answering; Rub out and remember. D Procedures:

Ask students from teams to go to the board and write the correct words

- The team which is faster with more correct words will win the game

Call on two students from both sides of the class to the front of the class Ask them to stand at an equal distance from the board

Call out the English word, the students run forward and slap the Vietnamese word on the blackboard The student slapping the right word first in the winner and gets a point for his/her team

Continue until students have slapped all the words

must include the addresses of the writer and the recipent.

Have students read the letter written by John Robinson on page 37 Ask them work in pairs to answer some questions about the letter

Ask students to divide the letter (written by Robinson) into parts and match each paragraph with a suitable headline Let students work in pairs compares their answers
