Kết quả khảo sát quần xã động vật phù du tại 10 vị trí thu mẫu ở khu vực vùng hạ Long An qua 12 đợt quan trắc trong năm 2013, đã xác định được tổng số 82 loài thuộc 09 giống: Protozoa, Rotifera, Cladocera, Copepoda, Ostracoda, Decapoda, Chaetognatha, Chordata và Larva (các dạng ấu trùng con non), ở mỗi đợt quan trắc dao động từ 23 − 45 loài/đợt. Thành phần loài phân bố chủ đạo trong khu vực khảo sát chủ yếu là các loài giáp xác Copepoda và ấu trùng Nauplius của chúng.
