Campus-RS REX2 Ethernet Bridge/Router Interface Module CAREX2 The Campus-RS ™ REX2 (Remote Ethernet eXpress) is an interface module that installs directly into a Campus-RS remote device or Campus-RS Star concentrator and provides interconnectivity of geographically dispersed Ethernet LANs within a private enterprise network. The Campus-RS REX2 functions as a full-bandwidth Ethernet remote bridge, or a static or dynamic IP router, using the existing copper infrastructure as the transmission medium to provide repeaterless connectivity between LAN segments up to 4.6 Mbps. The Campus-RS REX2’s robust architecture eliminates the need for other bridges, routers and DSU/CSUs. It provides a 10/100 auto sensing port, an embedded SNMP agent and IEEE 802.1d transparent MAC-layer bridging. HDLC and PPP encapsulation options and VLAN pass through IP routing allow interoperability with other internetworking devices. The Campus-RS REX2 can be used to extend subnetworks to remote sites within a private enterprise network, or to connect to the public T1/E1 wide area network (WAN) to internetwork sites separated by greater distances. Features: • Eliminates need for costly bridges and routers • Simple installation and management • Maintains logical network partitioning • VLAN passthrough • 10/100 ethernet auto sensing • Routing, static, dynamic • Bridging and spanning tree • 4.6 Mbps WAN speed • Fast code download - FTP download - TFTP code recovery • Telnet Specifications Hardware Requires Campus-RS remote or Campus-RS Star line unit Multibank flash memory for field software upgrades SDSL WAN Physical Interface: RJ-48C Interface Signal Format: full-duplex 2B1Q line code, 130.7 to 2352 kbps per loop, 1 or 2 loops, selectable Payload Data Rate: One loop: 128 kbps to 2.3 Mbps, in 64 kbps increments Two loops: 256 kbps to 4.6 Mbps, in 128 kbps increments Bridge/Router One 10/100 Ethernet auto sensing port Network Low-overhead HDLC encapsulation Interface Optional PPP encapsulation of MAC-layer frames Static and dynamic IP routing, RIP, RIP2 Full IEEE 802.1d transparent MAC-layer bridging VLAN pass through Dynamic address learning Full-bandwidth filtering with aging Spanning tree Management Chassis LCD display and controls & Maintenance RS-232/RJ-48 local console port (9600, 8/N/1) Embedded SNMP agent FTP download TFTP code recovery RFC 1213 MIB II, RFC 1493 Bridge MIB (base, ST, transparent groups) ADC SDSL Bridge MIB extensions RFC 1215 Traps (link state) and ST Traps (newRoot, topology Changed) Telnet Environmental Operating Temperature: 0 to 50°C Relative Humidity: 0 to 85% Electromagnetic Emissions: FCC Part 15 Class A, CE Safety Compliance: UL, CSA, CE EN60950, IEC60950 ADC Telecommunications, Inc., P.O.
