Lesson plan Lesson: Unit 12- Music (Speaking skill) Class details: Grade 10 Aim: - help students ask and answer questions about music. - encourage students to talk about favourite kinds of music. - Increase students’ interaction and communication. Objectives: by the end of the lesson, students will be able to - talk about their favorite kind of music. - enrich their knowledge of many kinds of music. Teaching aids and materials: textbook, handouts, songs, and pictures. Anticipated problems: students may lack of knowledge of kinds of music to describe them. Stages and time Step and activities Work arrangement Warm- up 7’ Pre- speaking 15’ Game: “slap the board” Instructions: - T divides the class into 2 teams. - T writes 5 words about kinds of music on the blackboard. - Each team will nominate 5 students to come in front of the class. - After T reads the discription of music, 2 representatives, one by one, slap the word which they hear. The one slaps the correct word first will get two marks for her/his team. The team with higher mark will be a winner. Checking instructions: - How many words are there on the blackboard? - How many people of each teams will take part in game? - What will representatives do? - How many marks do they get? - Who is the winner? Appendix: Kind of music Description 3. 3. Pop music 4. 4. Rap music 5. 5. Classical music Traditional music of a country A style of music which a strong and loud beat Modern music that is popular with young people. Music that is popular with teens Serious and traditional Western European music. 1. Activity 1: “Bingo game” Instructions: - T asks if students like to play one more game, tell them they are going to play a game called “Bingo”. - T sticks a list of five kinds of music on the board and introduce to ss. * Folk music * Rock * Pop * Classical music * & Acapela - Then, T asks ss to take out a piece of paper and show their paper. Ss will work individually. - T gets ss listen to five songs turn by turn and asks them to choose the most suitable kind of music from the list for each song. - After all songs finish, T will give the answer and ask ss to check their answer. - T says ss: Ss who are correct completely let raise her/ his hand and say “Bingo”, who raises the hand first will be a winner.
