Long Khanh A High School Teacher: Mai Truc Linh Week: 4 Period: 11 UNIT 2: PERSONAL EXPERIENCES Lesson 4: Writing Preparing date: August 23 rd , 2010 Teaching date: August 30 th , 2010 Class: 11CBa Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to - Write a personal letter to describe a past experience. Language contents: Vocabulary Teaching aids: textbook, poster, and blackboard. PROCEDURES Time Contents Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 5’ 4’ 4’ 7’ I. Warm up: Picture description Suggested items: - The time - Place - People - Events II. Pre-writing 1. The shape of the letter : - Greeting - Story (the experience) - Colsing -Signature 2. Ordering: These are some main point in the letter (in textbook p.28). Among these belong to story and closing Story Closing 1. When it happen 2. where it happen 3. how it happen 4. who is involved 1. How the experience 3. Asnwer the questions: -Ticks the picture on the board and describe class into 2 groups. -Gives the rule of game: each group will have 1 minoute to think of the sentences and 2 minutes to write the sentences on the board. Which group has the more sentences is the winner. - Controls the game and finds the winner. - Leads to the new lesson. - Elicits the shape of the letter from ss and writes on the board. -Gives instruction and controls class do the task. -Asks the answer and corrects - Asks ss think in their mind an - Look at, prepare, and play the game. -Speak out and take ote. - Do the task in pairs. -Give the answer and correct. -Look at the task. -Listen and guess. -Think of an events. - Asnwer the Class 11CBa Page 1 Long Khanh A High School Teacher: Mai Truc Linh 15’ 9’ 1’ III. While-Writing: 1.Write a personal letter to your pen friend telling him/her about one of your most memorable past experience. IV. Post-Writing: 1. Peer correction Correct questions: -Does the writing have 4 parts? -Does the writing talk about when, where, and how the event happen? -Does the letter have signature? 2.Teacher correction: V. Homework : - Self-correction their writing. -Prepare the language focus lesson. experience to write about. -Asks ss work in groups to answer the questions in reordering small board after that tick on the board. -Checks ss mistake in verbs tenses errors. -Elicits some main point in the leeter. -Explains how to write a letter: using the questions and answer above to make a letter which have 4 parts completely. -Gives time for ss to write. -Goes around and gives help. - Gives the steps one by one for the ss correct their friend mistakes. -Takes some writing to correct at home. - Gives the assignment questions in groups. -Tick the answer on the board -Look at and correct. -Take note. -Listen and write a letter individually. -Follow their teacher and correct their friend ‘s mistakes. -Give their writing for their teacher. -Take note.
