LESSON PLAN ENGLISH 9 Period: 2 preparing date: 27/ 08/ 2010 Teaching date: 28/ 08/ 2010 Unit 1: a visit from a pen pal ( Lesson 1: getting started and listen & read) A./ objectives: I. Knowledge: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - know some famous places in VN, understand Maryam / s trip to Ha Noi and know how to use WISH-Clause (Type 1) II. Skills: Listening, reading and speaking B./ procedures: I. Settlement: Greets and checks attendance II. Warm-up: Getting started: Matching (pictures at page 6) *) answer key: a,Den Hung festival d,National museum b,The Temple of Literature e, Foodstall c,Dong Xuan market f, Nha Rong harbor T: asks Ss to match the phrases with the pictures and then gets feedback Ss: work in groups and then give their answers T:gives the situation:” your foreign pen pal is coming to stay with you. What places would you take him to? Ss: ask and answer the question in pairs and then present their ideas. III. New lesson: Teacher / s activities Ss / activities *) Lead-in: Lan / s pen pal, Maryam was staying with Lan last week. She enjoyed a lot of famous places in Ha Noi. Today we will know more about her and her trip. 1.Presentation: a.Act.1: Vocabulary - (to) correspond / ./ {correspondence (N) -(to) impress/(translation) {impression(N) - friendly(adj.)(example) {friendliness(N) - mosque(N) (picture)/ / - (to) pray/preid/ (mime) - try out and repeat chorally- individually VO MINH TRAN HUNG DAO SECONDARY SCHOOL LESSON PLAN ENGLISH 9 - elicit first and say out the words - write and check - use Matching method to check vocab. b.Act.2: Guiding questions 1, Where is Maryam from? 2, Was this their first meeting? 3, Where did Lan take Maryam to go? -hang on the Qs and gives the instructions - play the tape twice. - get feedback - play the tape again 2.practice: a.Act.1: Choose the correct option to complete the sentences.(Page 7) *) answer key: 1.C 2.B 3.D 4.B - hang on the task & explains the way to do - ask Ss to read the text again and complete the task. - get feedback & checks 3.Further practice: a,Act.1: Wish - clause( Type 1) + Model: Tu does not have a computer at home → Tu wishes she had a computer +Meaning & form: When we want to express the wishes that are unreal in the present or future, we use Wish-clause ( T1) → S1 + wish +S2+V simple past ( Subjunctive mood ) →Note: to be → were ( for all persons) - T. asks the Qs: Do you have a computer, Tu? →Tu does not have a computer, so Tu - give the meaning& make sentences - close their books & match the words with the Vietnamese meaning. →Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia →Yes, it was. →Hoan Kiem lake, Uncle Ho / s mausoleum - close the books and read through the Qs. -listen and then share their answers in pairs - read out their answers. - check their answers, - read through the task - work in groups to share their ideas - give their choices & explain the reason (distinguish the differences between subjunctive mood & indicative mood) VO MINH TRAN HUNG DAO SECONDARY SCHOOL LESSON PLAN ENGLISH 9 wishes -T. writes the model and checks the meaning, form & use. - explain the exercises 3 (a,b,c,d)- Lang. IV.Consolidation: - ask the Ss to work in pairs with the question: If your friend visit you, where will you take him/her to go ? - revise Ss with the way to use Wish-clause(Type 1).
