Question Thank you very much for sending me your new catalog I've spent some time looking through the different Jacuzzis that you offer I particularly liked the 35-TR model because it has a built in shower However, the 36-PQ Deluxe model is also good because it has wheels and is therefore mobile Could you please let me know which of these two models you currently have in stock? Also, it would be good to arrange a time for someone from your firm to come and to give me a quote I will be away on vacation from tomorrow for two weeks, but any time after that should be fine The best time for me is in the evenings, after p.m., or, if that isn't possible for you, Saturday mornings are also good Please let me know when would suit you best 312 Firstly, the gap year is very useful if you have spent the past few years living at school away from friends and family Because you have studied hard to get good grades in order to be accepted to your first choice college, you may need a break, or a year off, for a vacation A gap year can be great to get back to doing normal things and touch base with those you miss You can take the pressure off full-time study to see family you may have only seen a few times throughout high school, and friends you have only texted or met occasionally while studying Secondly, a gap year means you could get a full-time job and save money that will help finance you through college when you go after you 've had your gap year This makes sense because tutition fees are so expensive now However, going straight to college can have its advantages Most of my friends are going to this and I can see why they think this way They want to get their degree earlier so they can get a job much more quickly when they graduate I've made a few new friends at high school and some are even going to get a part-time job while they study for their degree Also, if you're studying close to family and friends anyway, there's no reason to have a gap year because you can see them anytime In the end, my personal opinion is that I think I'll go straight to college because I can always work for my father at his shop in the evenings, and study when things are quiet Having said that, if I lived far away from my friends and family, I would probably take a gap year So it basically comes down to finance and individual situations, and doing what makes you personally more successful and happier in the long run ANSWER KEY Practice Test Speaking Test Question There are two people in this picture, and they both look like architects On the left saying that you purchased a television from our store yesterday, but you 're having some problems with it First of all, let me say that I'm sorry for the trouble that you 're having From what you 've described in your message, it doesn't sound like it's a problem with the television Rather, I think there may be something wrong with the connection with the cable box The reason I say this is that if there was something wrong with the television, you wouldn 't be able to program any channels However, this is not the case in your situation What I suggest you is call your local cable company and check that everything is OK with the connection If they're not able to solve the problem, please call us back Thank you for your call Question 11 Question I recently watched a Korean movie called Criminals, and it was really interesting It was about a group of thieves who try to steal from a museum I liked it because the plot was very exciting I also liked it because there were a lot of famous movie stars in it In my opinion , a good manager should have the following qualities Firstly, a manager should have leadership skills For example, most workers want a manager that they can follow However, if a manager is not a good leader, then it's very difficult for him or her to lead his or her team in the right direction Secondly, a manager should be a good listener The reason for this is that a manager needs to understand his or her workers in order to develop a better relationship with them and make them more productive Lastly, a good manager should be professional at all times For instance, a good manager should be responsible for creating a professional environment at work, but if a manager cannot set aside his or her personal feelings, then this cannot be done Therefore, I believe that a good manager should have leadership ability, good listening skills, and professionalism Question Writing Test The seminar is on Saturday, November The first session is The Industry's Question Question They are on bicycles in the grass People are racing on bicycles across the grass There's a bicycle race across the grass and hills Some people are riding bicycles up a hill covered with grass The person is racing on a bicycle up a grassy hill As more people are connected to the Internet and more stores offer the option of being able to buy their products online, online sales have increased over the years However, there are many disadvantages to shopping on the Internet Here I will explore why I think it is better to shop online nowadays than it is to go out and buy most goods physically Question Hey Stevie! Yes it's been so long! I'm looking forward to it so much and to seeing everybody again! Poor first year students, they weren 't as friendly as us, were they? You 'll have to count me out of their reunion though because I'm working late on the 25th, tell them I would 've loved to have come, but can't, sorry I'd love to help set up the second year reunion on the 26th It will be great to get to know everybody again before the party starts! Sara Patty Sprague The first, and perhaps the best reason to shop online, is that purchases are generally delivered to your door, and sometimes it is even free Whether it is a pizza, or a refrigerator, or a part for your car, online purchasing is far easier and more hassle free Nowadays, even services such as taxi rides and plumbing can be bought online! Furthermore, it is safer to shop online than most people think Paying by using online payment services and cash transfers is very secure today This beats having cash and small change loose in your pockets which can be annoying One could, of course, use a debit or other bank card but that takes so long, and you have to be wary of fraud On the other hand, a disadvantage of buying online could be that many people prefer to see the products before they buy them, especially for items such as clothes and shoes, which isn't possible to when you shop on the Internet However, buying online saves time waiting in line, or calling for assistance if you scan your goods yourself, which is such a waste of time Finally, buying online saves money, which is always better You can save money because some businesses charge extra if you pay in cash or by check Prices are usually cheaper if you buy online using certain companies, mainly because they don't have to pay extra for retail space and employee wages, etc So in conclusion, it is much better to shop online for most things nowadays because it is much cheaper, less hassle with waiting in line, and much safer with modern methods of cash transfers than carrying a wallet with cash and credit cards 314 ANSWER KEY Practice Test Speaking Test Question This is a picture of a downtown street In the middle of the picture, I see a yellow cab casual clothes at work First of all, casual clothes are more comfortable to wear When workers are more comfortable, they can be more productive Secondly, allowing casual clothes at work can help employees save money For example, they wouldn 't have to keep spending money on dry cleaning and new clothes Lastly, wearing casual clothes at work can help companies to save energy For instance, if you allowed workers to wear T-shirts in the summer, you wouldn 't have to set the air conditioner to a high setting For these reasons, I believe that companies should allow employees to wear casual clothes at work Writing Test Question Let me just check your account OK, your invoice number is 625-7890, and the total amount of the order is $1 ,459.83 The doctor is standing in the middle Standing presentation is being given at a business meeting The man is giving a presentation at a business meeting Someone is giving a presentation at a business meeting Although there may sometimes be advantages of sending a photograph with a job application, I think it is quite a risky thing to Overall, I think trying to use a photograph to help you get a job is a bad idea for the following three reasons Question The couple have asked for directions Two people are asking someone tor directions The younger man has been asked for directions The man is asking the older people tor directions The man and woman have asked for directions Question Thank you tor your email I have attached a scanned copy of our company logo so you can give that to your designer As to the size and duration of the advertisement, I would prefer a half page if you offer that? I noticed you didn't list this ad size, so, if not, I will go with the full page I will need the ad to run tor three months Do you have a discount available per quarter? and as you can see by the attached document, it looks pretty good already, so I'll decline the use of your design team for the extra cost First, if you attach a photograph to your job application, recruiters may think that you are too desperate for the job For example, the fact that you included a photograph might make them think that your job history or educational qualifications aren't sufficient, and that this is the reason why you need to add a photograph If they get this impression about you, they might not even take the time to read your resume Second, you can never know for sure what kind of appearance a company is looking tor It is true that if you are good-looking, a recruiter might be impressed by your appearance In this case, he or she might be more likely to choose you to come for an interview At the same time though, it is possible that your look might not be what the company wants, even if you are good-looking You can never know for sure what kind of appearance a company is looking for in a job candidate Finally, photographs can be misleading Some people attach photographs taken by professional photographers to their job applications I think this is a really bad idea, because in real life these people often look quite different This might make an interviewer feel that you are insincere when he or she sees you in person For these reasons, I would never attach a photograph to a job application I would always want the company to consider my educational and professional background, rather than the way I look Please let me know the details about when the advertisement will appear, or if you need any further information Question Dear Mr Pinn, Thank you for your email We are sorry about our website not having clear directions or a map We
