Unit 13……………………………………………………………………… Unit 15…………………………………………………………………… CONCLUSION……………………………………………………………… REFERENCES……………………………………………………………… INTRODUCTION During the time of science and technology, information technology has been a great impact on every aspect of the society and it is considered as one of the most important factors promoting the reformation process in our country Therefore, the application of information technology inthe reformation process of teaching methodology andin promotion the educational quality is the necessary demand The 2008-2009 school-year is chosen to be the year of promotion the application of information technology in teaching Furthermore, according to the recent study, the influence of senses on the acquirement of knowledge will receive: 1% from tasting, 1.5% from touching, 3.5 % from smelling, 11% from listening and 83% from looking With these demands and statistics, it is realized that to make the teaching process interesting and effective, the teacher should use film or pictures to motivate the students’ interests and help them to acquire knowledge inthe best way All these can if e-lesson plans are used in teaching Aims of the study: This study is thecollection of e-lesson plan of English 11(odd units) with the hope of having the reliable documents forthe teachers Furthermore, in each e-lesson plan there are many critical comments from different sources: the teachers at Chu Van An high school, my friends at the university, my supervisor, and my comments More importantly, from these comments, the teachers will have experience to make their e-lesson plans more effective Scope of the study: Because the lack of time, I just collected some e-lesson plans of English 11 (odd units) THE IMPORTANCE OF USING E-LESSON PLANS IN TEACHING Along with the development of society, the educational methodology requires the changes to meet the practical demands and to increase the educational quality One of the most significant and necessary alternations is the application of information technology in teaching, especially the use of e-lesson plans Recently, although still having a few difficulties in implementing teaching with e-lesson plans, the application of e-lesson planin teaching is considered as the central function in reformation of educational methodology because it brings a lot of beneficial aspects It is obvious that the application of e-lesson plans in teaching is advantageous Firstly, the e-lesson plans perform an invaluable function in motivating students and promoting the quality of thelesson An educationist has said that students are not afraid of learning but they fear to face with the boring lesson With the traditional methodology, a lot of students are bored to see the dull pictures of the teacher with simple teaching aids What they want to see is something special and new to create the wonderful feeling to acquire the new knowledge When e-lesson plans are used, the variety of pictures, songs, and video clips will appear to fill the students’ demands with only a click of mouse Moreover, the application of elesson planin teaching flexibly and adaptly will decrease the independence of students on teacher and contribute to reform the teaching methodology effectively The teacher will save a lot of time to write on the blackboard or to hang the paperboard Therefore, the time for interaction between teacher and students will be increased and more activities will be organized in class Through these learning activities, students will gain the knowledge actively and naturally through games, songs, pictures, pairs work, groups work, etc The last objective received is the students know how to learn actively andthe role of teacher in class is just organizing and directing students to learn By doing so, the teaching methodology has been reformed Although teaching e-lesson plans are advantageous compared with the traditional methodology, there are stills some certain obstructions Firstly, it takes the certain time for students to get familiar with the new teaching methods Many students complain that they can not catch up with thelessonand because there are too many slides and they not know what to write among many letters on the slides The most difficulty encountered is the lack of money to equip most of classes with the Projectors and computers while annual money supplied forthe school is used for other purposes Furthermore, to have a period with the use of elesson plan effectively, the teacher must have the knowledge of information technology and master the uses of teaching software However, a lot of teachers, especial the old teachers andthe teachers inthe countryside lack of these necessary demands UNIT 1: FRIENDSHIP Reading The teaching procedure in brief: I- Warm up: are the qualities for true friendship? Why we need to have friends? Comment: In general, this e-lesson plan has provided enough basis knowledge of thelesson to students The font size is clear for students inthe large class to see Moreover, the combination of background color and word color inthe slides is suitable The activity in warm up is interesting to motivate students However, there are some comments I want to share to make this e-lesson plan more effective Firstly, it is not necessary to show pictures in warm up activity because it is waste of time The teacher should give or pictures to introduce topic of thelesson only Inthe part of new words, the teacher should give the transaction and their parts of speech In discussion, the teacher could add more pictures or any films to arouse students’ interests In a word, this e-lesson plan is good but it needs more creation to add species in class UNIT 1: FRIENDSHIP Speaking I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to describe the physical characteristics and personalities of their friends, using appropriate adjectives II Materials: Textbooks, handouts III Anticipated problems: Ss may not have enough vocabulary to talk about the topic, so T should be ready to provide help IV Procedure: Time Steps Work arrangement 8’ Group work WARM UP -Divides class into groups and asks them to list the name of the body of a person as many as possible (shows the picture to the Ss to look at) -Students work in groups and give the answers: for example; T asks students to the exercises in textbook V- Free-practice: - T shows students the pictures with many people are dong something - T asks students to describe them using the relative clause replaces by participles or to infinitive Comment: This is an effective e-lean plan because of many reasons Beside it not only conveys enough basic knowledge to students but also has variety of activities to motivate students Fist of all, this lessonplan has the revision to recall knowledge which students learnt in writing Before pronunciation and grammar stage, the teacher also organizes warm up activity This will make class more interesting andthe students will one more time to check the knowledge they have learnt The freepractice of grammar stage is effective because it develops the students’ ability of thinking Inthe term of form, the combination of background color and letter color is suitable Moreover, the background color always changes making this e-lesson plan more vivid However, this e-lesson plan contains many activities so that the teacher should be careful to adjust the time when using this lessonplan UNIT 13: HOBBIES Speaking A OBJECTIVES: Educational aim: by the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: -Ask forand give information about their hobbies -Talk about their hobbies Knowledge: Sts can make conversations and talk about collecting stamps Skills: Fluency in expressing the hobby B TEACHING: - S: I will attend stamp exhibitions to learn more room experience collectors to make my collection more valuable T: … -Ask Ss to talk in individual Homework: Write the dialogue on the book Comment: This is the good e-lesson planin terms of the content andthe form Firstly, the main content of thelesson is introduced naturally and knowledge is given to the students at the immediate level Furthermore, the information is selected correctly and meaningful In particular, the new words are introduced inthe context creatively Many kinds of activities are of activities are organized to make the students motivated such as: pair works, group works, and discussion Secondly, this e-lesson plan is also beautiful in form The pictures are used rightly with their function to clarify the content of thelessonand arouse the students’ motivation to speak The font size is suitable with students andthe combination between the background color and font size is effective UNIT 13: HOBBIES Language focus The teaching procedure in brief: I-Pronunciation: - T shows some sentences containing the target sounds and asks them to read them to give the answers - T asks students to read the words andthe sentences containing the target sounds inthe textbooks II- Grammar: - T gives some examples and asks students to draw the structures of Cleft sentence in case the subject is emphasized - T gives sentences to check the students’ understanding of this structure and then asks them to exercises - T continues to the same procedure to introduce the Cleft sentence in case the object and adverb are emphasized - T gives the extra exercise to the students Comment: This is also the good e-lesson planin form but there is mistake inthe content of thelessonIn form, the font size andthe background color are chosen carefully The important words inthe structure andthe answers inthe exercises are highlighted suitably Beside the exercises inthe textbook, the teacher also gives more exercise for students to practice However, there is mistake inthe planning process to transferring knowledge to students The grammatical point with three parts, subject focus, object focus and adverb, should be introduced at the same time and then the students will the exercises to practice three parts of grammatical point By doing this, the teacher will save more time Moreover, the pictures should be used to add more spice in class UNIT 15: SPACE CONQUEST Reading The teaching procedure briefly: I-Warm up: - T shows pictures of astronauts and names of astronauts And then T asks students to match one name with suitable picture 1.Pham Tuan 2.Gagarin 3.Buzz Aldrin Neil Amstrong II- Before you read: - T gives some examples and asks them to discuss with their partners Who is the first human to fly into the space? Can you name the first humans to set foot on the moon? Who is the first Vietnamese to fly into space? III- While you read: -T introduces some new words - T asks students to task and task inthe textbook Task 1: Match the heading the paragraphs Task 2: Read the passage again and answer the questions IV- After you read: - T asks students to complete the summary of the reading passage by putting the words/ phrases inthe box into the blanks Comment: This e-lesson plan has transferred enough the basic content of textbook However, the form of this has a lot of mistake Firstly, the background color is so dull The font size in slides 9, 11, and 12 is so small that the students will have difficulty to see it In teaching new words, the teacher should introduce some pictures or examples to illustrate the new words effectively UNIT 15: SPACE CONQUEST Language Focus The teaching procedure in brief: I-Pronunciation: - T asks students to listen and repeat the words and sentences in textbook II- Grammar: -T gives some example using can/could/able to andthe tag question and helps students to draw its uses -T asks students to the exercise and exercise in textbook Comment: This e-lesson plan is not the good one Although it conveys enough the basic knowledge in textbook to students, what is conveyed is so boring and lacks of creation No pictures, films or anything interesting is used in this e-lesson planThe teacher does not use the background color effectively andthe font size is too small for students to look at and take notes Moreover, there is mistake in writing In a word, this e-lesson plan should be Thế hệ học sinh ngày nay, từ chào đời, có vẻ quen với việc tiếp nhận thông tin dạng hình ảnh, âm (nói theo ngôn ngữ hiện “thông tin dạng multimedia”) nhiều các hệ trước Do đó, việc dạy học bằng giáo án điện tử, dù cho bộ môn khoa học tự nhiên hay xã hội, khai thác mạnh PowerPoint, chọn dạy thích hợp với kiểu dạy học này, giúp học sinh tiếp thu học tốt nhiều CONCLUSION It can be seen that most of the e-lesson plans collected and analyzed above has some good points and week points Therefore, to have an effective e-lesson plain is not easy and it needs careful planning and creation of the teacher From advantages and disadvantages of these e-lesson plans, with the help of many colleagues andthe invaluable comments from the teachers at many high schools, I have given some suggestions for planning a good e-lesson planThe good e-lesson plan should satisfy the combination between the content andthe form accordingly Inthe term of content, the basic content of thelesson should be presented fully inthe presentation of e-lesson planInthe other words, the knowledge transferred to the students at the immediate level, not too much or not too poor If the knowledge is too poor, it will not provide enough content of the lesson; vice versa students will have difficulty in acquiring too much information at once Moreover, the information appeared on the screen should be selected carefully and exactly More importantly, teacher should make use of beneficial aspects which computer bring The beautiful pictures, interesting films, games or songs should be used creatively to demonstrate the content of thelesson However, one thing should be avoided is the dictation or text mistakes Although what lessonplan is used, the content of thelesson always plays the central role in teaching process and with the good e-lesson plan, these demands are required The good content should be surrounded by the beautiful form because it will help students acquire the content inthe best way Therefore, teacher should spend time to beatify the form before it is used First of all, the form of the presentation should be ensured about the sense and motivate students to pay attention to thelessonThe font size andthe font of text should be selected carefully and suitably for students to read and take note Furthermore, the color of template andthe text should be harmonious The wise chosen of the form will help students motivate in gaining knowledge However, the teacher should remember in mind that the useful effects in teaching soft ware have the function References Bích, Nguyễn Thị (2009, February 20) Unit 15: Space conquest (Language Focus) Retrieved
