According to FAO, in 2011, worldwide chilly production area was 183,770,383 hectares, the output of fresh chilli was 2,960,117,518 tons, the fresh chilli yield was 16 tonsha. The top supplying countries are China (Mainland), India, and Vietnam, which supply 62%, 27%, and 6% of red chilli exports respectively. Red chilli importing countries are most popular in Western Europe, North America, and Mid East. Vietnam ranks seventh globally in dried chili, chili powder production area and ranked fifth in chili powder and dried chilli export.
