Installation Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid I GENERAL METHOD STATEMENT PROJECT GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Office building (Building A2) is an item of Project Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Hoang Dong and Lam Dong communes of the Thuy Nguyen District in Hai Phong City, Viet Nam PREPARATION WORK 2.1 SITE PREPARATION (OFFICE, FENCE, OTHER TEMPORARY WORKS) 2.1.1 TEMPORARY SITE OFFICE Temporary site offices are furnished with sufficient equipment for the project execution within months such as furniture, shelves, air-conditioning systems, communication systems, internet, computers, printers and other necessary equipment Temporary office using contener 40 feet, provice sit for Project Manager Room, Site Manager Room, Supervision area, site designing area, meeting room, WC, parking area etc VINACONEX is responsible for cleaning, taking care of, and security to temporary site offices 2.1.2 TEMPORARY INTERNAL ROADS FOR CONSTRUCTION Temporary internal roads are reused the existing road from previous Contractor, otherwise the Contractor also make temporary road for some areas as shown on method statement drawing to service for construction Upon site possession, Vinaconex shall level, compact subgrade and crustone These roads are designed and constructed to facilitate all the transportation, storing, loading, loading and unloading materials and equipment to be incorporated into the project during construction period Temporary road is designed with widths 5m with area for traffic turning The roads are made of backfill soil and 0-4 stones as shown on method statement drawing and compacted well and with sufficient temporary drainage system During construction and installation, temporary roads will be regularly amended to ensure continuous traffic usage for soil erosion and sedimentation control 2.1.3 TEMPORARY STORAGE YARD Temporary storage yard for construction duration of the project shall be located on the plan with the main area as follows: -Temporary storage yards for material and equipment of VINACONEX; -Temporary storage yards for materials and equipment of VINACONEX construction teams; -Temporary storage yards for materials and equipment of VINACONEX of sub-contractors; All above mentioned areas are located next to main buildings to facilitate the construction and installation work later and to ensure no relocations of temporary offices during the execution of the project 2.1.4 TEMPORARY LIGHTING, POWER AND WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS Temporary power and water supply systems are designed and will be installed with sufficient capacity for all temporary requirements on site Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid In addition, the following areas are installed with temporary lighting systems used at night for Site office, main gate, temporary fences, storage yards, guardhouse, temporary sheds of VINACONEX teams and sub-contractors 2.1.5 TEMPORARY FENCE AND GUARDHOUSE A temporary fence shall be installed surrounding the site for security reasons Install 01 main gates with guardhouses and barriers Besides, guardhouses can be located along critical areas for security control and protection 2.1.6 OTHER WORKS Besides the above-mentioned, additional facilities shall be installed as listed below: - Telephone system (domestic calls only); - Parking areas for contractors staffs and workers; - WC for all working areas with sufficient temporary drainage systems; - Washing bay to clean vehicles before leaving site to the public road; - Medical & first-aid area; - Safety training area for workers; - Waste Collection points; - Canteen for workers; - Safety signs, project board etc The above-mentioned works may be adjusted or changed in accordance with requirements of construction and installation progress 2.2 SITE HUMAN ORGANIZATION 2.2.1 HUMAN RESOURCE OF VINACONEX Human resource of VINACONEX shall be mobilized on the principle of matching agreed construction schedule According to site workload, workforces can vary from 150 to 200 workers maximum VINACONEX ensures that workforces mobilized for this project are professionally trained, skillful and conducted with safety and industrial hygiene sources by VINACONEX before entering site for work 2.2.2 VINACONEX SITE ORGANIZATION CHART (Refer the chart in tender submission) Attention should be paid to our proposed organization chart of which architects shall be appointed for deploying detailed and shop drawings The chart of Project Team comprises of: Off site management: - Project Director (directly reporting to the General Director) - On site management: Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid - Project Manager - Deputy Project Manager - Site Administrator - Site supervisors - Designers - Quality control representative - Safety control representative General construction teams and sub-contractors - Civil Teams (Structural and Architectural Works) - Structural steel Team - Sub-contractors and Suppliers The Project team will be assigned immediately upon the issuance of commencement instruction However, all members of the Projects of the Project Team are required to make prior studies on the drawings as well as fully aware of all actual conditions on the site so that the works can be implemented properly Experienced on similar projects, Mr Ngo The Hung, Chief of Safety Control Group shall ensure that, prior to any personnel mobilizing to the job site, all VINACONEX staffs and workers and subcontractor personnel are thoroughly grounded in the safety procedures EXCAVATION AND REMOVE SURPLUS SOIL 3.1 EXCAVATION 3.1.1 PREPARATION After receiving construction drawings, taking over the site and bench marks, existing level marks, etc VINACONEX shall setting out position, level of items Theodolite, level equipment and accessories shall be used All topsoil on the site shall be excavated to the average depth indicated, and stored to be reused on the site General excavation shall be carried out to the dimensions, depths or levels as indicated on the Drawings Should any excavation be taken beyond the required lines or levels, or if the soil immediately below the excavated surface is disturbed, the Contractor will at his own cost and expense take steps as directed or as approved by the Engineer to correct the defects The remedial action shall be such that the original bearing capacity and all other desirable soil properties are not diminished in any way by such action 3.1.2 UNSUITABLE MATERIALS ENCOUNTERED Such unsuitable material that is excavated shall not be re-deposited back on site either as general fill or as backfill around foundations, but shall be removed from the site and taken away to a certified dumping ground Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 3.1.3 SLOPE The Contractor shall protect all slopes, including formed slopes in fill, from soil erosion or softening due to rain or surface water 3.1.4 FINAL LAYER At least the last 5cm – 10cm of soil above the formation is to be excavated by hand on a dry day to the correct levels as shown on the drawings and the bottom is to be trimmed, cleared of loose or soft spoil and rammed if necessary before laying of the concrete blinding The final 5cm – 10cm layer above formation level is only to be excavated on the same day as the laying of concrete blinding 3.1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE AND APPROVAL Throughout construction progress, the inspection, supervision, approval and quality assurance shall comply with requirements from client, consultants, design drawings and TCVN 4447:1987 – Earthwork-Standard and Inspection for Approval Beside procedures and forms required by the client and Government, VINACONEX will also apply its own Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001-2008 3.2 SURPLUS EXCAVATED MATERIAL Excavated material that is surplus or suitable for filling etc., shall be re-deposited, spread, leveled and compacted elsewhere on site, all as directed by the Engineer or removed off to the Contractor’s own dumping ground 3.3 BACKFILL AND FILLING Prior to Backfilling, remove formwork and other objects located in the area to be backfilled Consult the Engineer in the event that formwork shall remain as they are Consult the Engineer if the excavated soils are not suited to the backfilling and fill Extra fill settlement or allowance may be required depending on the soils 3.4 WATER DRAINS To excavate small canal from foundation to the Song Cam river for water drains CONCRETE STRUCTURE WORK 4.1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF MATERIAL, EQUIPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION CAPACITY OF CONTRACTOR Execution of mass reinforced concrete is the most important work in establishing stability and duration of each project It is as continuous works which represent technology and progressive level of each construction company Having understood the importance of mass reinforced concrete VINACONEX has been innovating and investing much more modern equipment in accordance with regional and international standards, thoroughly increasing project quality and construction speed We have experimented and applied new technologies and new materials in fabricating and installing formworks Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 4.2 REINFORCEMENT 4.2.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENT Rebar for concrete structural works must comply with design requirements and TCVN 5574:1991 “reinforced concrete structure” and TCVN 1651:1985 “Steel reinforcement” To imported steel, certificates shall be required and sampling for test in accordance with TCVN 197:1985 “Metal-Pulling test” and TCVN 198:1985 “Metal-bending test” Rebar can be fabricated at site or at workshop depending on large quantities required for the project Rebar of same dimensions and shapes but different physical properties shall not be used for the same project Rebar before fabrication and concrete placement must ensure: Clean, free of dust, oil, scale or rust; Rebar with sectional area reduced because of cleaning or other causes shall not exceed 2% of diameter If the reduction is over 2%, the rebar shall be used with the remaining sectional areas Rebar must be straight or be bent straight 4.2.2 CUTTING AND BENDING Cutting and bending must be carried out by mechanical methods Rebar must be cut and bent in accordance with design shapes and dimensions Fabricated rebar must be checked by lots Each lot contains 100 rebar Any rebar shall be taken from each lot for verification Discrepancies shall not exceed data in Table 4-Discrepancies of Fabricated rebar (Item 4.2.2-TCVN 4452:1995) 4.2.3 WELDING Weld connection can be carried out by various methods but welds must comply with design requirements Welding method must comply with TCXD 71:1977 “Welding instruction for rebar and member inserted into concrete member” Connection of steel with low weldability shall comply with instruction from manufacturers For butt weld, rebar to be heated by automatic or semi-automatic welding machine in accordance with TCXD 72:1997 “Regulation on butt-well for round bar” Tack weld is applicable to frame and rebar mesh with diameter less than 10 mm (for cold roll rebar) or 12 mm (for hot roll rebar) When fabricating rebar frame and mesh, unless otherwise specified, tack welding shall follow the following requirements: -Round plain rebar: weld all contact points -Deformed rebar: weld all contact points for external perimeters Other areas shall be welded by every two contact points; - Rebar frames for beams: weld all contact points; - Acetylene wielding is applicable to the following cases: - Connection weld to all rebar with diameter greater than mm Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid - Weld all pre-inserted details, element and connections of assembled member - Weld must comply the following requirements: - Smooth surface, no burn, no interruption, no local reduction and no blisters; - Length and height of weld comply with design requirements; - Weld connection is checked in types and lots Each lot contains 100 welds or 100 welds frames or mesh The inspection is as follow: - Each lot takes 5% of welds but not less than samples for dimension inspection, samples for pulling and samples for bending tests; - Tolerances not exceed the data shown on table – allowable tolerance for welds ( clause 4.3.7-TCVN 4453:1995) for weld quality 4.2.4 REBAR TIES Rebar ties are to be in conformity with design requirements Do not tie at big load bearing positions and at bending positions At a sectional area of a structural member: not tie more than 25% of load-bearing rebar for plain rebar and not more than 50% of load bearing for deformed rebar Tying must satisfy the following requirements: - Tie wire for load-bearing for frames and mesh shall not be less than 250mm for stretching steel and not less than 200mm for compressing steel Tie wire for other member shall follow date shown on table7-lengths of tie wires (clause 4.4.2-TCVN 4453:1995) - When tying, rebar at stretching area must be hooked (for plain bar) No hooking for deformed rebar; - Tie wire is mild steel with dia 1mm; - At least positions to be tied (2 ends and at the middle) 4.2.5 REPLACEMENT OF REBAR In all cases, replacement of rebar must be approved by designer In case cold-roll rebar are used in place of hot-roll rebar, contractor must have approval from designer and the client 4.2.6 DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION OF REBAR The delivery of fabricated rebar must meet the following requirements: - Do not damage or deform rebar; - Rebar of same types should be tied together to avoid wrong uses; - Large frames and mesh should be divided into small quantities to suit transportation means Installation must meet the following requirements: - Previously installed members not hinder the installation of later members; - Fix rebar firmly to prevent displacement during concrete placement; - When forms and rebar are combined to create a strong member, forms then must be placed at intersection of main rebar and as designed Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 10 At all edges or openings for electrical, air conditioning or other use, additional T-bars of the same size as the main members shall be provided Gypsum board - On a concealed grid shall be mm thick taper edge type, with dimensions of 1200x2400 mm for concealed hanger - On a exposed grid the gypsum board shall be of a water resistant, square edge type, 9mm thick with dimensions of 600x1200 mm Acoustic board / panel - On concealed Grids the tiles for this type of ceiling finish shall have dimensions of not less than 300x300 mm and a thickness of 18-20 mm They shall have a textured surface of a pattern to be approved by the Consulting Engineer and shall be obtained from a wellknown and approved manufacturer The material shall be non-combustible, shall prevent spread of flames, have low smoke producing characteristics and shall resist fire for a period of at least two hours The acoustical characteristics shall meet the requirements of specifications - On Exposed Grid the tiles for this type of ceiling finish shall have dimensions of approximately 600x1200 mm (or 600 mm) as shown on the drawings of schedules and a thickness of 19 mm 6.3.4 INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL EMULSION PAINTING Materials and preparation Materials for painting shall comply with design drawings Method - Before applying putty to plastered wall, contractor shall ensure that the wall reach required humidity requirements instructed by manufactures Plastered walls must be cleaned and amended etc - Putty shall be mixed mechanically with proportion as instructed by the manufacturers, ensuring putty after being mixed shall be homogeneous in color and textures Only sufficient amounts shall be mixed each time Mixed putty shall not be mixed again in a new batch - Second putty coat shall be applied not later than 24 hours 36 hours after the completion of second putty layer, start sanding and touching up corner, moldings etc - Before prime coating, putty coats must be checked by lights Prime and finish coating can only be carried out after the inspection and approval from the consultant - prime coat and finish coats shall be applied with colors approved by designer - Inspection and approval - Inspection and approval shall comply with manufactures standards, consultant and TCVN 5674-1992 6.4 6.4.1 ALUMINUM WORKS AND EDGE PROTECTION PREPARATION Shop Drawings Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 21 The Constructor shall furnish the details of extrusions and sections to be used for the preparation of the various items; the materials to be used for waterproofing; drawings or pictures of locks, handles, hinges, bolts etc These drawings shall be approved by the Consulting Engineer before being used for the manufacturing and/or fixing of any of the specified items The Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring that: - The frames and all the elements of doors and windows, including glazing, are adequate in strength for their particular purposes and locations in the building; - Doors and windows when installed are completely watertight - Setting out to check dimensions of the wall opening before doors/window installation - To prepare all necessary/ suitable tool, accessory for the works 6.4.2 SEQUENCE OF INSTALLATION To fix the door/window jamb into prepared opening by galvanize lugs and screws To assemble the leaf frame, hinges and fixing to installed jamb Glazing, sealant and accessory installation To take off the protected plastic 6.4.3 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS The aluminum works shall be carried out in a first class, workmanlike manner inclusive of all works and materials in accordance with this Specification The Constructor shall take care that the settings of all units are straight, plumb and level, and he shall be responsible for ensuring their satisfactory operation after the fixing is completed, namely are: - Fixing Into Prepared Openings: The openings must allow at least 25 mm tolerance all round The frames shall be secured at head, jambs and sill Care should be taken to ensure that the frames are not distorted or warped when screwing up lugs or fixing screws - Hanging: All casements shall be openable as indicated on drawings and schedules, and shall be fitted with aluminum, nickel or chromium plated bronze butt hinges with nonferrous pins and other suitable, approved hardware Projecting hinges shall be provided where required - Weather Bar Drips: Where necessary to prevent leakage or where indicated on the drawings, weather bar drips shall be attached at the head of the fixed frame to outward coupling screws and nuts - Exterior Joints Wherever necessary, the exterior joints between building openings and frames of doors and windows shall be sealed with non-absorbent closed cell foam polyethylene trip as joint backing, 30% compressed when applied, to receive a non-part silicone sealant from the specified manufacturer with a color to the approval of the Consulting Engineer 6.5 CERAMIC TILING Floor tiling: Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 22 - Surface receiving tiling must be cleaned before being tiled And bumps must be leveled Dusts, oil and rubbishes must be cleaned away by steel wire brush, water, detergent or other chemicals - Brush away dust, cement, grains - Dampen surface before tiling - Grouting to concrete surface before screeding mortal - Check slope by stretching cords Adjust design levels In all cases, unless otherwise specified, floor after tiled shall have slopes to doors or floor drains Water ponding at all base is not acceptable - Joint grouting can only be carried out after 24 hours of completion of tiling Grouting must be performed carefully to guarantee solid grouting Over grouting is not allowed Joint after grouting must 0.5mm lower than floor levels - After grouting the floor shall be wept with soft cloths, ensuring no cements on finished floor - Underside of tiles must be fully filled with mortar This requirement can be checked by using a timber stick to hit on tile surface Applying grout to undersides of tile before tiling is not acceptable Materials: On site selection of materials to take into account: - No warping - No defects on surface - Equal dimensions - Color match Technical: - Screed 3-5 cm mortar, applied to slope if applicable - Place starting tile, adjust by cord and level - Spray 20 mm grout and place tiles - Hit tiles by timber or rubber hammers to lower tiles to level of straight cords - Joints must be straight Wall tiling: - Requirement on material is similar to ceramic floor tiling - For ceramic tiling to toilet area, apply tiles to walls when plaster is still damp Install tiles by cement grout or special adhesives - Before tiling, form a 50 cm high level lines around walls to ensure precise joint lines Vertical joints shall also be prepared at 1m center to center to ensure continuous joint from walls to floors - White color cement grout shall be used for joint filling to toilet area Joint must be fully filled with grout Overflowed grouting shall be swept clean by soft cloth to ensure no defects to floor Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 23 - To ensure bondage, underside of tiles must be fully grouted without honeycombs Joints shall be filled properly Use timber stick to check each tile Material: - Equal dimensions No chip or defects to tiles; - Cement grout grade 100 is used for tiling - Technical requirements: - Prior to tiling a plaster benchmark must be installed - Installed highest row first - Drop plumb bob and place tile at the lowest row The install plaster benchmark at this position - When tiling, apply a thin layer of grout on walls and on underside of tiles then tiles shall be immediately stuck to walls in line with plumb lines and water hoses - Fill joints with cement grout and cleaning 6.6 6.6.1 HARDENER FLOOR FINISHING SUBSTRATE PREPARATION: As soon as the substrate of concrete has reach plasticity (after bleeding but before setting beginning) smooth out the surfacing of the fresh poured concrete and level off with a vibrated straight edge 6.6.2 APPLICATION Sprinkle the hardener mixture by hand over the smooth wet surface, at a rate of 3-6 kg/m2 Allow the mixture absorb moisture from the substrate and evently moist, consolidate power float the surface of mixture 6.6.3 SMOOTHING OUT As soon as the mixture become plastic of just as it is about to set, carry out a pre-smoothing operation with a power float machine running at low speed but fitted with a metal blade’s at a minimum inclination The final smoothing operation is carried out some time later but with a power float machine running at high speed 6.6.4 CURING Hardener mixture surface must be protect from a rapid water loss which can result in surface cracks Therefore approved curing system shall be applied 6.7 6.7.1 EPOXY FLOOR FINISHING SUBSTRATE PREPARATION The concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm2) with a minimum pull off strength of 1.5 N/mm2 Repairs to the substrate, filling of blowholes/voids and surface leveling must be carried out using appropriate products Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 24 The substrate must be clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, cause differences in “gloss” of the surface 6.7.4 CURING Times are approximate and will be affected by changing ambient conditions That also is in accordance with manufacturer guide The complete surface normally shall be protected from dust, damp, water in at least 24 hours Time curing is 3-10 days for foot, heavy traffic 6.8 6.8.1 MARBLE AND STONE PREPARATION - The Constructor shall be surface 6.8.3 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT Dimensions All dimensions shall be taken from completed works, not from drawings The thickness of the cladding materials shall be approximately as shown on the Contract drawings, but changes are allowed to comply with locally available thickness of the marble and stone Materials for Flooring The Consulting Engineer shall select samples for all marble and stone, and the materials supplied by the Contractor shall be in accordance with these samples The slabs of marble and stone shall be of the thickness shown on the approved shop drawings and shall be without defects such as rough or chipped-off edges, cavities, scratches, etc All exposed surfaces of the marble shall be finished with a rubbed, polished face to the approval of the Consulting Engineer Unless required otherwise, all exposed surfaces of the stone shall be “tooled” finished (fine grain bush-hammered), to the approval of the Consulting Engineer All areas with a marble slab floor finish are to be provided with 100 mm high skirting of the same material and finish Selection of Panels For all purposes of use, the marble or stone slabs shall be selected by the Contractor in order to provide, as nearly as is reasonably possible, a matching pattern To achieve this, all marble and stone for each usage shall be form the same quarry and preferably form the same part of the quarry Application The floor finish shall be bedded and pointed with a mortar that will not cause any staining of the marble or stone The mortar used shall be of a suitable composition and quality to ensure proper adhesion of the floor finish to the concrete sub floor For the fixing of light-colored or white marble, only white cement shall be used The Contractor shall be responsible for the preparation of the concrete sub floor, which shall be cleaned of all caked mortar, dust, spilled oil or grease, etc The Contractor shall be responsible for the quality of the workmanship to ensure by persons, equipment moving around 6.9.3 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT Granite stone Elements for stairs Marble elements for stairs shall be of the sizes and shapes, and shall be fixed by the means shown on the drawings All exposed surfaces of treads and risers, including the underside of the nosing, shall be polished All treads shall have special non-slip inserts, approx 25 mm wide x mm thick, fixed with an adhesive as recommended by the supplier of the non-slip inserts The color of the inserts will be selected by the Consulting Engineer from the manufacturer’s standard range The marble shall be handled, fixed and finished as described in “ Marble and stone-technical requirement” Protection of stair finishes The Contractor shall protect all stair finishes by means of timber covers or other Bid 27 6.9.4 DOORS INSTALLATION WORK Setting out, finished floor level To fix the door / window jamb into prepared opening by galvanize lugs and screws Fixing Into Prepared Opening: The openings must allow at least 25 mm tolerance all round The frames shall be secured at head, jambs and sill Care should be taken to ensure that the frames are not distorted or warped when screwing up lugs or fixing 6.10 CARPENTRY/IRONMONGERY/ METAL WORKS Technical requirements: 6.10.1 CARPENTRY AND JOINERY Quality of Timber All timber to be used in this project shall be hardwood of the best locally available quality of its kind, free from all sap, shakes, large, loose or dead knots, wany edges, borers and other serous defects All timbers shall be properly seasoned Kinds of Timber Carpentry timber, which is normally concealed and not to be painted or varnished, shall be the same type as given in the list of approved materials/ manufacturers attached to Specifications All carpentry timbers shall be treated with an approved wood preservative Timber to be used for joinery and which will be finished with paint or varnish, shall be the same type as listed in the list of approved materials/ manufacturers attached to these Specifications Samples of the timber shall be provided for approval by the Consulting Engineer and for later comparison and the timber to be supplied shall match the previously approved samples Moisture Content The moisture content of the timber used for internal carpentry and joinery shall be a maximum of 16% and this requirement is to be maintained until the building is finished The Consulting Engineer may require an evidence of moisture content which shall be submitted to him before the joinery is fixed Preservative Treatment Timber used shall be treated with a brush-applied wood preservative of the specified or equal and approved type Treatment is to be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and after cutting, shaping and fixing is completed If treated timber is unavoidably cut or damaged, a liberal application of preservative is to be made to cut or damaged surfaces Dimensions Unwrought timber shall be full to the dimensions stated, except that occational slight variation due to sawing is permissible Wrought timber is to be planed, drilled or otherwise machined or worked to the correct sizes and shapes shown on the drawings Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 28 Exposed Faces, Carpentry/ Joinery All timber that is to be exposed in the finished surfaces of joinery work shall be wrought on the appropriate faces, unless otherwise specified All timber in carpentry work may be left rough from the saw, unless specified to be wrought or unless it needs to be wrought on one or more sides for the proper and straight application Plywood Plywood to be used in this project shall comply with the requirements for the highest quality of VIS Thickness of the plywood shall be according to standard dimensions, as shown on the drawings All plywood shall be exterior grade, water resistant bonded type WBP (Weather and Boil proof.) Knots Surfaces to receive a paint finish may contain sound or tight knots on any one: urface, provided that their mean diameter does not exceed 40 mm and that the knot nowhere occupies more than half the width of the surface In surfaces to be varnished only small, sound tight knots will be accepted Shrinkage The arrangement, jointing and fixing of all joinery shall be such that shrinkage in any part and in any direction shall not impair the strength and appearance of the finished work and shall not cause damage to contiguous materials Fabrication All works necessary for correct jointing of carpentry and joinery works, such as mortising, mitering, tenoning, grooving, matching, tonguing, housing, rebating, etc shall be carried out by the Contractor in a proper, workmanlike manner and to the best standards of local workmanship The Contractor shall provide all metal plates, screws, nails and other fixings that may be necessary for the proper execution of the joinery and carpentry works, whether they are shown on the drawings or not Exposed screws shall be of a suitable shape and finish to the approval of the Consulting Engineer and where necessary shall be provided with cup washers Bolt heads shall be concealed with wooden plugs as an where directed by the Consulting Engineer Cleaning Up The Contractor shall clear out all shavings, cut ends and other timber waste from all parts of the building so as to reduce fire hazard This shall be done at leat at the end of every working day, or as often as the Consulting Engineer shall direct All waste and rubbish shall be removed from the site or destroyed 6.10.2 IRONMONGERY Door Number Plates The Contractor shall provide and fix at both sides of each door that is to be locked with a key, a door number plate of laminated plastic with an engraved and colored door number Each individual key shall be provided with a key tag of laminated plastic, with the corresponding door number engraved in it Hinges Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 29 The hinges to be used shall be a heavy duty stainless steel type, of the types and with the dimensions indicated in the diagrams on the drawings Unless shown otherwise on the drawings, not less than hinges shall be used per door leaf Locks and Master Keying Locks shall be the specified product or approved equal and shall be of the types and qualities mentioned on the drawings Each lock that is key operated shall be provided with keys, If so required in the Particular Requirements, the locks shall be master keyed withdrawn and replaced with new screws 6.10.3 METAL WORKS Locally Made Steel Doors, Windows And Frames Steel doors and frames shall be made of mm thick folded steel sheet, with door panels 44 mm thick in accordance with the details of the drawings and all exposed surfaces and joints shall be ground smooth where necessary to form a suitable substrate for the paint The doors shall closely fit the frames without difficulty when closing or opening All ironmongery of the steel doors shall conform to the door schedule and shall be of a type and quality that is suitable for steel doors A 3.2 mm steel plate shall be provided to reinforce the door panel at the location of the lock, or where otherwise shown or considered necessary The steel window and door frames for exterior use shall be filled with mortar before placing and shall be provided with anchors of the type, size and locations as shown on the drawings The anchors shall be totally enclosed in the surrounding block work walling or concrete structure Fireproof Sliding Door Fireproof sliding doors shall be 1,2 or hour fire rating as stated on the drawings and/or the particular Requirements, and shall be provided with a smelt fuse-activated automatic closing mechanism with counterweights, The doors shall be manufactured by the specified manufacturer or approved equal Roller Shutters The roller shutter doors shall be mate of galvanized steel sections The widths and heights of the doors shall be suitable for the door openings as shown on the drawings and schedules The doors shall be of the approved type and quality and shall, where specified, shall be provided with electromechanical operation which will make it possible to open and close the doors fully and partly All doors shall be capable of manual operation The operation shall not be able to be opened from the outside Suitable hasps and staples shall be provided for locking of the doors by means of padlocks Steel Conduits Steel conducts of pipe or tubular box sections shall be supplied and positioned in the formwork of floors, walls, columns and beams in accordance with the drawings Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 30 Where leakage along these conduits may be expected, the conduits shall be provided with water stops of 3mm steel plate, welded to the conduit at right angles Steel conduits shall be hot-dip galvanized Checker Plate Cable Duct Covers Cable ducts shall be covered with steel checker Plate where indicate on the drawings The edges of the cable ducts shall be provide with continuous rim profiles made of steel angle sections, 60x60x5 mm with welded continuous strip steel, 20x6 mm to receive the checker plate cover The rims to be provided with welded anchors of strip steel, 20x3 mm at approximately 400 mm c/c The covers shall be made of checker plate with a thickness of 4-6 mm and shall be provided with stiffeners of flat strip steel of dimensions sufficient to meet the load requirements The covers and rims shall be properly marked to designate the intended location Rims and covers shall be hot-dip galvanized Grille Type Drain Covers Steel grille type drain covers shall be dimensioned and manufactured in accordance with the drawings and shall be hot-dip galvanized Step Irons Step irons shall be made of steel bars of minimum diameter 19 mm and with a developed length of 1100 mm, shaped into a U and having both ends provided with threads and nuts for installation in the formwork All step irons shall be hot-dip galvanized Lockers Steel lockers shown on drawings and on schedules shall be the make and model of the specified manufacturer or approved equal, unless shown otherwise on the drawings of the Particular Requirements The lockers shall be installed on tiled concrete bases with a height of 100 mm and shall be fixed in position by means of screws 6.11 WATERPROOFING Waterproofing shall comply with clause 6.7 TCVN 4453-1995 and TCVN 5718-1993 Because waterproofing is a complex work, it requires coordination of various works including concrete pouring Roof slab, toilet area and r.c gutter shall be poured with cement water within 20 days Surface to be cleaned before waterproofing Cleaning can be carried out by brushes, broom and air-compressors Apply waterproofing as instructed by manufacturer At toilet penetration openings, 100 mm stand must be built up and filled with concrete grade 200 Metal floor drains shall be used for intersections between storm water downspout and r.c gutter PVC floor drains are not accepted Concurrently high grade mortar shall be used as void filler to ensure complete tightness Project : DAMEN SONG CAM SHIPYARD FACTORY PHASE – MAIN WORKS Subject : Form of Bid 31 II METHOD STATEMENT FOR zones as bellow: Zone from axis A-J Zone from axis J-N Construction method: 2.1 Concrete method: - For earth works of foundations and ground beams, temporary roads shall be used for excavation and at height place, manual hoist shall be used to lift material, motor up to working place in vertical direction Hoist shall be hang into tubular scaffolding tightly The area under hoist shall be isolated with safety tape and warning signboard to ensure no accident caused by falling object takes place during working time The hand truck (wheel barrow) shall be used to transfer mortar and material to working place in horizontal direction - Block shall be laid layer to layer The height of each layer is not exceeding 2m Specially, at level from +3.000m, the height of each layer not be exceed 1m to avoid collapse may be taken place by wind during working time And the waiting time between two layers is minimum 24 hours for filled- concrete be shirked totally - Block works shall be set out and built straight, true and plumb to the respective dimensions, thickness and height required to comply with drawings - Faces of concrete columns, stiffener and lintels shall be coated with bituminous paint 1mm thick before laying blocks - All block are to be reasonably dry when used, only the edges are to be wetted if it is found necessary to adjust suction Blocks shall be laid in stretcher bond with 10m joint, properly bedded and with the joints flushed up as the work proceeds and no part of the work shall be carried up more than m above another part at one time and the whole
