6th Annual WEPs Event: Gender Equality and the Global Jobs Challenge FAQ What is the objective of the 6th Annual WEPs Event? The event provides a unique opportunity to bring together companies that are committed to the goals of the Women’s Empowerment Principles and global and local stakeholders from Government, Civil Society, Academia, to take stock of progress made, share innovative solutions and approaches to challenges and identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership The focus of the 6th Annual WEPs event is Gender Equality and the Global Jobs Challenge, which will showcase business strategies, experiences and lessons on increasing and enhancing job opportunities for women and expanding access to decent jobs Please see here for information on past events When and where will the Event take place? The 6th Annual WEPs Event will take place at the United Nations Headquarters (47th Street & 1st Avenue) on March 2014 The Morning Plenary will take place in the Trusteeship Council Chamber and the WEPs Luncheon and Afternoon Roundtable Sessions will take place in the Delegates Dining Room WEPs Conversations (a series of short panels and discussions highlighting tools, resources and engagement opportunities related to the WEPs) and the government-sponsored Opening Reception will take place on 5th March 2014 at Scandinavia House Do all participants need to register in advance? Yes, all participants must register via the 6th Annual WEPs Event online registration system Only individuals who have received an invitation will be able to access the registration system To request an invitation, please contact wepsevents@unglobalcompact.org Please be aware that emails and letters to the Global Compact Office cannot be processed and will not be accepted as a substitute for online registration Are all sessions open to all registered participants? No While the Morning Plenary on 6th March is open to all registered participants, due to budgetary and space constraints, the WEPs Luncheon and Afternoon Roundtable Sessions are only open to business participants and a limited number of non-business representatives that are working concretely with the WEPs to advance gender equality Priority is given to companies that have signed the CEO Statement of Support, Businesses that are members of the UN Global Compact and non-business participants that are concretely working with the WEPs A fee does apply for business participants Please visit the WEPs Annual Event website for information about the fees The WEPs Conversations and Opening Reception on 5th March will be open to all stakeholders, but please note, due to capacity restraints a maximum of two representatives per a non-business organization will be able to register Once we reach capacity, registrants will be placed on a waiting list Who will participate? Unfortunately, due to limited resources, at this time the WEPs Secretariat is unable to sponsor any participants to attend the 6th Annual WEPs Event However, portions of the WEPs Annual Event will be webcast and all materials and resources from the event will be available on the WEPs website What will be the language of the 6th Annual WEPs Event? YES! Security passes granting access to the UN will only be issued to registered participants Participants may pick up their security passes from 2pm to 6pm on 5th March at Scandinavia House or the morning of 6th March at UN Headquarters (47th street and 1st Ave) Information about picking up security badges on 6th March at the UN will be sent via email to all registered participants closer to the date of the event When will registration open for the 6th Annual WEPs Event?
