Aim : By the end of the lesson students will be able to know : - How to give first – aid to emergency situations. - The content of the lesson and how to give first – aid instructions. - Understand the modal request sentences , offer sentences and promise sentences. II. Objective * Review : - Request : Can you tell me what happened? - Offer : Will you hurry, please? * Promise : I promise I'll keep her awake. * Vocabulary : emergency , ambulance , wound , conscious , pressure. * Skill : Practice listening, reading , speaking and writing English III. Teaching aid. Text book , slide projector , cellophanes , Power Point , Violet , pictures , English 8 disk ( VCD ) of Ministry of Education and Training. IV. Teaching procedure Time Teacher's activities Students' activities 1- Warm up 5' Getting started - Let Ss look at the pictures carefully in 10 seconds. T: Do you like playing a game? - I have a game for you. It’s a Matching . T: Do you like it? - Divide class in to 2 groups . T: These are the things which are used for first- aid. Now work in 4 groups to answer the questions . * What would you do in 4 situations which require first- aid? T : " First - aid " what does it mean? T: Now work in 4 groups to give the answers . Only 2 minutes for you. - Call a S from each group to answer the questions. - T comments their answers. T : You know there are a lot of situations which require first- aid in different ways , and to day we have to know a real situation for first – aid happens at a school. Now let’s begin the lesson. - Let Ss open the books on page 80. - T: Write the title on the board. - Have Ss read the title of the lesson. “ A first – aid course” - We have known the situations which require first- aid in the first part Getting started . Now come to the second part - Listen and read - 2 Ss go to the board and do the matching. - Read the names of the things column A and the situations in the column B - Ss answer the questions - Each S answers. Listen to the teacher. - Ss write in the note books. - Read the title of the lesson. 2- Pre - Reading. T: Look at this picture . This is an emergency room . “ emergency” . Read “ emergency” - Call 2 Ss to read the word. + emergency ( n ) T: What does it nean? T : This is an ambulance. ( picture ) - Have Ss read aloud the word. “ambulance” + ambulance ( n ) - T: What does it mean? - Call 2 Ss to read the word. - Look . The boy has a bad cut in his leg. the wound is bleeding quite badly. "wound " . Now read "wound " + wound ( n ) - What does the word " wound " mean? T : Let Ss read the word 2 times. - Call 2 Ss to read the word. - The next word is " conscious ". Now read "conscious " + conscious ( adj ) - " conscious " means " tØnh t¸o " - The opposite word of "conscious" is "unconscious" . - Have Ss read the word " unconscious " - The last word is " pressure " . Now read " pressure " - Look at the picture and read aloud. - Ss write the word in the note books - a S answer s. - 2 Ss read the word. - A S answers. -Read aloud the word. - Write the word in the note books - 2 Ss read the word. -Listen then read the word. - A S answers - Write the word in the note books. - Ss read the word. - Listen and read the word. -Write the word. T : We 'll have to know these modals clearly in the next lesson. * Have Ss read the vocabulary 2 times. - Call 2 Ss to read the vocabulary b, Checking vocabulary. Call each S from 4 groups to check the results of other group. 1, Practice the dialogue with a partner. - Ask Ss to look at the books to practice the dialogue in pairs in 2 minutes. - Call 3 pairs to practice the dialogue . One is Lan and the other is the nurse. Now look at the pictures on the screen. Work in pairs to retell the content of the dialogue in 2 minutes. - Call a S to go to the screen , point at the pictures and retell the content of the dialogue. - T comments Opening dialogue - T: Now I have an emergency situation for you . Look at the screen . T: Show the situation on the screen and read it. Imagine that there is an emergency at your school and you are calling Hai Hau hospital for sending an ambulance and requiring first - aid instructions . Work in pairs to make similar dialogue. - Look at the screen . Work in pairs to retell the content of the dialogue. - A S retell the dialogue. - Look at the screen and listen.
