I Pronunciation : Stress in two-syllable words

1) Trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất

- Hầu hết danh từ và tính từ đều có trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất

Ví dụ: Danh từ: PREsent, EXport, CHIna, Table

- Tính từ: PREsent, SLENder, CLEver, HAPpy

- Đối với động từ nếu âm tiết thứ hai chứa nguyên âm ngắn và kết thúc không nhiều hơn một phụ âm thì trọng âm sẽ rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất

Ví dụ: ENter, TRAvel, Open

- Các động từ có âm tiết cuối chứa ơ thì trọng âm cũng rơi vào âm tiết đầu

Ví dụ: FOllow, BOrrow

2) Trọng âm vào âm tiết thứ hai

- Hầu hết động từ có 2 âm tiết thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2

I / STATEMENT ( Câu trần thuật )

A Saying verb ( Thay đổi động từ nói / Động từ tường thuật)

- Chuyển “said to => told”

- Không đổi said nếu không có “to”.

- Bỏ dấu : ; “ ” ; , và thêm liên từ “That”

B Persons ( Thay đổi ngôi thứ )

_ Ngôi thứ nhất( I , We ) cùng ngôi với chủ từ của động từ nói.

- Ngôi thứ hai ( you ) cùng ngôi với túc từ cùa động từ nói.

_ Ngôi thứ ba ( He , She , It , They ) giữ nguyên,không đổi.

Cách đổi đại từ :

- “Ngôi thứ I”- đổi hợp với S của m.đề g,thiệu là ngôi III (số ít): he, his, him, he, her, her

* và ngôi III (số nhiều): they, their, them

- “Ngôi thứ II” - đổi hợp với O của m.đề g.thiệu :

e.g :O của mệnh đề giới thiệu là “him” thì ta có thể lấy các đại từ cùng với nó như : S thì lấy He; O him ; Adj  his

eg: Susansaid to Nam, “I will go to the circus with you” ( you là O ngôi thứ II)

 Susan told Nam she would go to the circus with him ( him là O hợp với Nam

C Verb form usage in reported speech: sequence of tenses ( Sự thay đổi về thì )

- If the main verb of the sentence is in the present, present perfect or future tense (e.g., say, tell ), no change is made in the verb tense or modal in the indirect speech ( reported speech)

( Nếu động từ tường thuật của câu ở thì hiện tại, hiện tại hoàn thành hay tương lai ( thí dụ: say, tell ); không có sự thay đổi nào về thì của lời nói trực tiếp sang lời nói gián tiếp.

Ex : He says, “ I work hard.” = > He says (that) he works hard

Ex : They say, “ we are vorking hard.” = > They say(that) they are working hard

Ex : He says, “ I worked hard” = > He says (that) he worked hard

- If the main verb of the sentence is in the past (e.g., said, said to… ), a change is made in the verb tense or modal in the indirect speech ( reported speech)
