Suggested Lesson Plans – i-Learn My Phonics – Grade Semester I WEEK 12 – GRADE – LETTER E (35 minutes) PERIOD 24 Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: • Review the sound of the letter Ee, four Ee words and recognize the corresponding pictures • Write the letter Ee Topic & Resources Key Activities Key language & Materials Unit - Lesson Resources Warm-up (5mins) Letter Ee • i-Learn My Phonics Grade 1, • Greet the students Integrated skills Activity book – • Revision of the previous lessons through ‘Jump game’ Reading, Listening, p.12 & 13 - Put a line of masking tape on the floor and designate one side True and the other False Speaking, Writing - Hold up a phonics card, e.g egg and say: egg Then students jump on the True side Materials - Hold up another phonics card, e.g elf and say: ant Then students jump on the False side Vocabulary - The students who end up on the wrong side sit out until the next game Revision • Phonics cards Egg, elf, elephant, Revision & Practice elbow Teaching Aids Trace and say (Page 12 – Activity Book) (7mins) • An envelope • Colored chalks/ Activity: Revision of letter E, its sound (3mins) markers Speaking • Write on the board the big E and small e • Point to the letter E and say out loud “This is the letter E /i/ The letter E says /e/” • Point to the letter e and say out loud “This is the letter e /i/ The letter e says /e/” • Have the class repeat its sound chorally, then individually • Have the students say the sound individually, correct the pronunciation if necessary Activity: How to write letter E (4mins) Writing & Speaking • Demonstrate how to write the big E stroke by stroke • Draw an example of letter E using dashed lines • Use a different colored chalk to model tracing the letter E Suggested Lesson Plans – i-Learn My Phonics – Grade Semester I • Have some students practice tracing letter E on the board • Have students trace letter E in the books • Students say /e/ after each finished letter • Go around to give help if necessary Repeat the same procedure with the lower letter e Trace and match (page 12 – Activity Book) (6mins) Writing & Reading Copy the boxes from the book to the board and put the phonics card of elbow up between them • Tell the students that you are going to write the letter Aa and Ee into the box • Demonstrate the writing • Draw lines to the correct pictures that correspond to each letter • Go around the classroom and providing any necessary help Answer keys: Aa – acrobat Ee - elbow What is it?
