Suggested Lesson Plans – i-Learn My Phonics – Grade Semester I WEEK 11 – GRADE – LETTER E (35 minutes) PERIOD 21 Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to: • Recognize and pronounce the letter Ee and its sound correctly • Understand, recognize and say the three Ee words • Write the letter Ee Topic & Resources Key Activities Key language & Materials Unit - Lesson Resources • Warm-up (5mins) Letter Ee • i-Learn My • Greet students Phonics Grade 1, • Review the previous lesson by playing the “Matching game” Integrated skills Pupil’s book – - Make two columns on the board, A and B Reading, Listening, p.22 & 23 - Write letters a, b, c, and d in column A and all, pple, ragon, and arrot Speaking, Writing - Ask students to match the letters in column A to those in the column B and make four Materials words Vocabulary • CD - Have the students write the words in their notebooks Egg, elf, elephant • Phonics cards - Choose individual students to come to the board, draw lines and say the words • Paper including - Give feedback Sight words the lyrics of the • Presentation & Practice Hello chant Listen, point and repeat Colour (Track 28): Introduction of letter Ee, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Ee (7mins) • Use a card with letter Ee (or write on the board the letter Ee) to introduce to the students the new lesson • Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter Ee /i/ The letter b says /e/.” • Play the CD • Ask students to repeat several times and check their pronunciation (letter Ee /i/and its sound /e/) • Use the phonics cards with egg, elf, and elephant, read the words out loud and ask students to repeat • Use gestures (hand actions) to help students to understand the meanings of the three words • Check students’ understanding: Teacher says the words, all students actions and vice versa • Call some students to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes (if any) • • • • Activity: Pupils’ books open (3mins) Point to and elicit the sound of the letter and the words Play the CD Ask students to listen, repeat and then colour in the letter During this process, go around the classroom and elicit the letter and the words from individual Suggested Lesson Plans – i-Learn My Phonics – Grade students Semester I Listen and point Match (Track 29): Read the commands with preceding “Hello” • • • • • • • • • • • • • • (5mins) Have students look at the books and listen to the words: hello Use gestures (hand actions) to help Students to understand the meanings of commands Ask students repeat by using the phonics cards of egg, elf, and elephant combining with gestures Then, ask students to look at the missing puzzle pieces and match them to the pictures Go around the classroom and provide necessary help Activity: Pass the phonics card Game (5mins) Using the phonics cards of Ee, egg, elf, elephant Line up the students into teams Give the first students of each team a phonics card and say “Go” The students say the corresponding words and pass the phonics card over their head to the students behind them Next, those students repeat the word and pass the phonics card between their legs to the students behind them Continue to pass the phonics card over their heads and between their legs to the last students Which team hands their phonics card to Teacher and says the word correctly will get one point Which team has the most point will be the winner Continue the game as many times as necessary Chant and show!
