Date of planning: Jan 7 th , 2009 Unit 10 : ENDANGERED SPECIES Period: No 63 Date of teaching: Jan 14 th , 2009 Lesson C: Listening * Aim s of the lesson : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - listen for specific information about Gorillas, and do some comprehension tasks * Teaching aids : Textbook, lesson plan , pictures, posters, radio, tape. * Procedures : Time Contents Teacher’s activities Ss’ activities 8’ 10’ 8’ I. Warmer: Jumbled words: - gerti  tiger - onmeky  monkey - glloiary  gorilla * Questions: + Have you ever seen any gorillas ? + Where do they live? + Do you like watching them? II. Pre- listen ing 1. Discuss and choose the best answer to complete the sentences. * Keys: 1- C, 2-B, 3-B 2. Vocabulary: + gorilla (n) + bared teeth (n) + silver back + sociable (adj) + civil war (n) III. While – listen ing : 1. Task 1 : Multiple choice * Suggested answers : 1- A 2- B 3- D 4- D 5- D -ask and call Ss to do. - ask some questions to focus Ss on the topic of the listening lesson. - Lead-in the lesson - ask Ss to work in pairs, discuss and choose the best answer to complete the sentences. - feedback and corrects - Follow the steps for teaching Voc. - write these words on the board: - guide Ss to remember - ask Ss to read all the sentences and try to guess the answer before listening for the first time. - play the tape the first time and ask Ss to do their work - ask Ss to show their answers. - play the tape again for Ss to check and correct - do as T asks. - answer T’s questions. - work in pairs, discuss and choose the best answer to complete the sentences. - repeat the new words - listen to the teacher and take notes - read the new words in chorus. - read the new words individually. remember the words. - read all the sentences and try to guess the answer before listening for the first time. - show their answers. - check and correct 10’ 8’ 1’ 2. Task 2 : * Suggested answers : 1, peaceful 2, plant- eating 3, a few females and their young 4, plants and a few insects 5, in trees 6, in grasses 7, civil wars 8, forests being cut down IV. Post – listen ing : - The game : The star of Gorillas food height weight habitats life-span V. Wrapping up their answer. - show the poster of the chart (p. 112) - ask Ss to practise and guess missing words for gaps in the chart. - Let Ss listen again and complete sentences by filling a suitable word. - call on Ss to go to board and write down their answers. - check with the whole class. - ask Ss to talk about Gorillas, using a game : The star of Gorillas *Comments:summarise the main points of the lesson. * Homework: rewrite main information about the listening passage based on Post - listening. - practise and guess missing words for gaps in the chart - listen again and complete sentences by filling a suitable word. - go to board and write down their answers. - talk about Gorillas, using a game : The star of Gorillas - listen to T - learn and do at home V I / Lesson Evaluation: . ==========*&*========== .
