Unit 1: FAMILY LIFE

A GETTING STARTED

I Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1 Knowledge: Use the words and phrases related to household chores

and duties

2 Skills: Read about the benefits of sharing household

3 Behaviour: think about sharing household chores with other family members

II Methods, teaching aids:

- Methods: Communicative Approach.

- Teaching aids: textbook, board, posters, handouts, projectors, speakers.

III Procedure:

1.Class Stabilization:

- Greeting

- Checking up the attendance

2.New lesson:

- T shows the picture and asks Ss to answer the questions.

- T introduces the new lesson. Look at the picture and answer the questions. Lead-in:

- Who are the people in the picture?

- What are they doing?

- What is your responsibility in your family?

- Who does the household chores?

- T plays the recording and asks Ss to listen and pay

attention to the text to understand the content

- Ss listen and read along silently

 Task 1: Listen and read:

(Students’ book, page 6)

- T asks Ss to read the passage again and get information to

do Task 2 in pairs

- Ss refer back to the conversation to give reason for their

answers

- Students compare the answers with a partner

- T asks some pairs to ask and answers.

- The whole class check and give feedback

 Task 2:

Activity 1: Decide whether the sentences are true, false or not given and tick the correct box.

Activity 2: Correct the false information

1 Nam’s father is preparing dinner

3 Nam’s sister is studying for exams

- T plays the recording and asks Ss to listen then repeat the

words/ phrases twice

- T asks some Ss to read the words.

- T corrects Ss’ pronunciation

- T explains the meanings if necessary.

 Task 3: Listen and repeat the words or

phrases

household chores household finances heavy lifting laundry rubbish groceries washing – up

- T asks Ss to write the verbs or phrases that are used with

the words or phrases in the conversation

- T asks Ss to work individually.

used with the words/phrases in the conversation
