Recipe of the Week: Project YOUR RECIPE: GUESS WHAT MY DISH IS? Students will share a recipe w/o saying what it is – In class, they will give characteristics of the dish (see chart & sample below), mention ingredients, and explain how to prepare it (w/o reading the document) Use comparative/ superlative adjectives (it tastes better than…; it is the best…) Use the chart to add in classmate data NOTE: Students must explain how to prepare the recipe in their OWN words, not from a book or online recipe (use these only for reference) Optional* - Ss can bring a sample of the dish for Ss to share in class Students: Country Cooking Method Type of Food (Meat/Fish/ Vegetable, etc.) What is it? How does it taste? Example: This is a dish from It is baked in an oven, and it is savory It is served with rice and … It is healthier that fast food This dish makes 8-10 servings The ingredients are: • large sweet potato, peeled and cut in 1" pieces • cups carrots, washed (leave skins on), cut into 1" pieces • teaspoons snipped fresh thyme or rosemary • tablespoon olive oil • Salt and pepper, to taste • tablespoon balsamic or red wine vinegar Directions: Frist, you preheat the oven to 450º (degrees) Then, in a large bowl, you combine all the chopped vegetables Add thyme or rosemary, oil, salt and pepper and mix (thoroughly) Pour vegetables in a large baking pan then bake, uncovered, for about hour or until vegetables are tender/soft, turning once Before serving, mix vegetables w/ balsamic or red wine vinegar then serve This is a very savory dish, and it is better than fried food!
