FOR THE GLOBAL MARITIME DISTRESS AND SAFETY SYSTEM (GMDSS MASTER PLAN) This circular supersedes GMDSS/Circ.8 and addenda and contains the latest information (March 2007) based on replies received from Member Governments To avoid confusion with the GMDSS Master Plan, it will be circulated only as a complete set from now on Therefore, this circular is numbered as GMDSS/Circ.9 The next complete set of the GMDSS Master Plan (GMDSS/Circ.10) will be circulated after COMSAR 12 The graphics given in annexes and 11 of GMDSS/Circ.8 and addenda have been taken out because those were outdated and incorrect It is expected that these graphics will be updated and reinserted when GMDSS/Circ.10 is circulated in 2008 Member Governments are invited to check their national data in the annexed information for accuracy, and provide the necessary amendments, as soon as possible, and to respond to MSC/Circ.684, if they have not already done so I:\CIRC\GMDSS\01\9.doc GMDSS.1/Circ.9 -2- LIST OF ANNEXES ANNEX - FACILITIES FOR THE GLOBAL MARITIME DISTRESS AND SAFETY SYSTEM (GMDSS) The Maritime Safety Committee, at its sixty-fifth session (9 to 17 May 1995), approved circulation of the revised questionnaire on shore-based facilities in the GMDSS, attached hereto The revised questionnaire includes the requests for information on EPIRB Registration Data and International Points of Contact for national Maritime Mobile Service Identities (MMSI), which were circulated to Governments by COM/Circ.126 and MSC/Circ.641, respectively Governments, including those which have submitted answers to the above-mentioned circulars, are invited to provide or update the information as appropriate Administrations should submit information obtained, as appropriate, from national authorities responsible for shore-based facilities for the GMDSS, NAV/MET Area Co-ordinators and search and rescue authorities This questionnaire revokes and replaces MSC/Circ.468/Rev.2, COM/Circ.126 and MSC/Circ.641
