Targeted Vocabulary: school subjects, subject, favorite, college/university Targeted Skills: Speaking: Students talk about their favorite subjects. Listening: Listen to day in the lives of college students. Time Activity Details 2-3’ Prologue: Tongue Twister -Teacher starts with a tongue twister to practice speaking. This week: If a dog chews shoes, whose shoes does he choose? 5-7' Activity: Telephone -Teacher divides class into rows (teams). -Teacher says a sentence to the first in the row. (Teachers favorite subject) -Students have to pass this sentence to the student behind them. -When they get to the end of the row, the last student must write down the sentence. Whichever team is closest to the original sentence wins. 6-8' Vocab -Teacher asks students about different subjects in school. -Teacher writes the names of the subjects the students can think up on the board. -Teacher shows classrooms from around the world. 6-10’ Activity: Taboo -Star student sits in front of class facing towards the back of the room. -Other students will give the star student clues about a class subject displayed behind them. -Star student must guess the name of the class in a set time limit. 4-6' College -Teacher talks to students about their future at college. -Teacher asks students what job they want when they finish school. 8-14' Video Activity: University Life -Students watch University Life video and answer questions about different topics. -Teacher can play the video again so students can grab any questions they missed. 1-2’ Outro -Teacher concludes the lesson by revising the language learned
