My last holiday was in Cuba, where I spent time in Havana, the beautiful agricultural region of Pinar del Rio and the UNESCO heritage site of Trinidad. Cuba is a fascinating country and the people are really special - warm, kind and generous. We travelled around on a special tourist bus service called Viazul which crossed the entire country and was very comfortable and good value, For most of the time we stayed in local homestays - casas particulares - which was a brilliant way to find out more about the Cuban way of life and also to practise our Spanish. Cuba is unlike anywhere else I've ever visited, mainly because it seems preserved in time, with some amazing 1950's architecture. It's certainly a place to get off the beaten track and away from the tourist beaches and hotels. We felt very safe there and had a wonderful trip. Jane Lovatt Travel Editor Hi Everyone, My last holiday was June 2006 to Bavaro in the Dominican Republic, if you want relaxation mixed with good food, friendly ppl, and a beautiful beach this is the place to be, sand is like icing sugar with tiny speckles of pink which when u look closely is tiny bits of coral, so soft under your feet though, Beach stretches for something like 14 miles too, Sea is gorgeous turquoise colour, the only downside is the sea can get a little rough. Love Sweet xxx Back to top Our last holiday was to Parga in north-east Greece. If you've been to all the obvious Greek places, done all the famous islands, this area will come as a bit of a surprise. It's relatively quiet, and with the most beautiful mountain scenery i've seen this side of the Cairngorms. Further inland the mountains get more spectacular, until you come to the really stunning mountain top monasteries of Meteora. You get this lush landscape plus all the usual benefits of a greek holiday - incredibly friendly people, brilliant swimming, trips to classical ruins etc. And if you get sick of the comforts, drive 50 miles north and experience the total culture shock of Albania. xchickpea Our last holiday was to China. We spent three weeks there starting from Beijing we went to Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou,Shanghai, Chongqing, Xian, Luhong, back to Beijing and then onto Hong Kong for 2 days. It was amazing! We saw Tiannerman Sq., the Forbidden City, walked along to the Great Wall, saw the Terracotta Army and some Pandas! For a totally brilliant experience China is a must. It's a rapidly changing country and must be seen now before they have pulled all the old China down and rebuilt it. The old gardens, temples and palaces are superb. There are slums that need to be pulled down! We sailed along a back street canal and saw women washing not only clothes but even their hair in the canal. Goodness knows they got it clean - the water was filthy! It was a facinating holiday and I would certainly recomend it for anyone who enjoys visiting somewhere different. My last holiday was over a year ago - San Francisco and Las Vegas - delayed silver wedding treat. Loved them both. San Francisco was so laid back and relaxing although so much to do and eat!!! Las Vegas is a complete culture shock - spent five days there and think that was enough. My most favourite place is Japan which is where my son has been living for 8 years. Have been a couple of times, and boy is it different to anywhere else I have ever been!! So clean and the safest place I have ever visited and the people are sooooo nice! Hope to go back next year. It does help as we have no hotel prices to pay as we stay with our son!! 1. Your plans for the future by Waldmeister » Wed Jan 05, 2011 11:57 pm As the "How old are you?" poll revealed a rather young demographic of the Minecrafters, I figured it would be quite interesting to hear what you plan for your future, what goals you set for yourself and how you will reach that precios future of yours. Tell us your academic career, the job you will have, the family you'll live in and everything else which comes to mind. To the older folks: Tell us the future you always longed for as a young lad :) My plan is to pass the final exams somehow and then go to university. There I'll be studying a course called "Security and Safety Engineering" and get a decent job as a safety advisor for companies or something like that (altough I'm still not so sure about that, maybe I'll learn programming and do something with IT and stuff ). Doesn't need to be that helluva lot money I make, but enough to live without the need to cut back. Maybe find a hobby other than sleeping and playing video games. I didn't think of any family plans: whatever the future holds for me :) I played with the thought of moving to another country, but as I'm only speaking English, my possibilites to find another country are quite big but still somewhat limited. 2. Everyone is waiting anxiously to graduate. It is the time that releases us from our parents' tides. Some of us have graduated and some of us are going to graduate. It is the moment to think what we feel about it. What we are going to do after graduation? Do we feel sorry we end up a beautiful period of our life? Do we feel anxious to start up a new beautiful period of our life? 3. After graduation, everyone has the opportunity to do whatever one wants with one's life. We are free to choose the job we have always dreamt of, we are able to take major decisions regarding our lives. But what about the problems of the real life that spreads ahead of us? Are we prepared to face them? Are we prepared to get a job because we need to have a place to stay? Are we prepared to make savings because we need food, cloths, and other necessary things in a man’s life? Our parents have taken care of all these until yesterday. But today, we are the ones to take care of our lives. What do you think about it? 4day. My Future Plans (an essay I wrote in school and still read for inspiration) By this title, I am guessing most of you are thinking what you will be doing next weekend or even tomorrow. You would be expecting me to write that I’m going to get ‘locked’ with my friends, but no! I hope to remember what I did the next day or even in a few years time…I want to be able to say when I’m old, that I lived my life to the fullest. Firstly, this summer, I don’t want to waste it like I did every other summer. I don’t want to sleep all day. I want to live, I want to visit museums, go to the cinema, do things I’ve never done before just for the sake of doing it. I want to visit fungi the dolphin. I want to make friends with a random stranger, I want to chat up a granny and ask her to dance with me, who knows I may even get a kiss. I want to climb a mountain. I want to live. And when I die I want to see what a life I have lived. I want to live, but not only to live, I want to love. I want to have fun with a maiden, meet her parents. I want to get in trouble with her dad for kissing her in public. I want to live, I want to love and I want to be happy. Then when summer ends, I want to go to college. I hope to go to college in Scotland. Scotland?? Why Scotland?? New fun, new faces, new things to do, I want to explore our world. On a whim, I will get on a plane, not knowing where I’m going or for how long and see what happens. See new places, try new foods, and get thrown in jail in a few new countries. When I do finally settle down, I don’t want to have to work some dead end job in a cubicle, not getting to see anybody…I want to be out there talking to the people, laughing with the people, being one of those people. I don’t want to just be making up the numbers, I want to be number one, I want to lead from the front, I want to save a life or two, I want to make a difference. I am sure most of you think I’m a bit fanatical but I could not bear doing the same thing day-in day-out, just filing numbers into a computer, I would prefer to saw off my left arm than work for the ‘man’ as so many hippies have talked about. My reasons are different however. I don’t care if a multi-million dollar corporation makes a bit more profit or not. It’s just that people who work for the ‘man’ tend to be as stimulating as a plank of wood. I want to jump from planes for a living. I want to do something interesting and exhilarating. I want to save a woman from a burning building. If I find a woman I like, who likes me, I don’t want to have to slow down. If she could keep up with me, great, and if she pushed me further, then even better. I don’t want to die young but I don’t want to die old after having ‘lived’ a boring life. When I die and my life flashes before my eyes, I want to be happy with what I did with myself My Last Holidays • Submitted by: jcgonar • Date Submitted: 02/22/2009 • Category: Miscellaneous • Words: 266 • Pages: 2 • Views: 1832 • Popularity Rank: 2879 My last holidays were my longest holidays, and I think that I learnt how to spend the time. I enjoyed a lot with my friends, and my family, and I met new people too, because I was in different places during the summer, and I wanted to meet people everywhere. The first place I visited was Calpe, a town in Alicante, because I was invited for some days by a friend who has a house there. I went with some friends, and we spent there just five days, but it was enough time to want to come back next summer! We stayed on the beach for hours, in the mornings, just lying and asleep, taking enough energy for the rest of the day and for the night! At night, we went out until next morning. We danced, met people, walked near the beach while we watched the moon in silence. Next, I went to Paris with my parents and my sister. Actually, I did not go to Paris, I went to Disneyland. We stayed there for four days, and it was really unforgettable. When I saw the park, I opened my eyes the most I could and I did not close them until the night at the hotel. I felt like a little girl again. Finally, I was in Salou. My parents looked for a really relaxing time, and we were on the beach for some days. There, we did not visit anything, we were there just to rest. After those days, we came back to Madrid, and, unfortunately, we had to start our routines again. . future by Waldmeister » Wed Jan 05, 2011 11:57 pm As the "How old are you?" poll revealed a rather young demographic of the Minecrafters, I figured it would be quite interesting to hear what. you think about it? 4day.
