Week 15 Unit 7. your house Period 43 Lesson 5. On the move (C 3 - 4 ) Date of teaching: A. Objectives: - Help students read a text about Hoang’s daily routine for further practice in Simple Present habitual actions. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to rewrite a short paragraph about their daily routine activities. B. Materials: Text book, lesson plan, CD, stereo. C. Method: Communication approach, open prediction, survey, lucky numbers. D. Procedure: Time Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 10’ 5’ I. Warm up & old lesson: Class: 6A 6B 6C Old lesson: C3 P.80 a) f)→ Play the CD for students. Tell them to listen and write short answers: - How do they travel? - By bus. a) Ba goes to work by motorbike. b) Lan often travels to Ha Noi by plane. c) Nam sometimes goes downtown by bus. d) Nga goes to school by bike. e) Tuan always goes to school by bus. f) Mrs. Huong goes everywhere by car. g) Mr. Ha goes to central Viet Nam by train. h) Miss Chi is a teacher. She usually walks to her school. II. New lesson: 1. Pre reading Open prediction: Introduce the text to students and tell them to predict what time Hoang does the following things Monitor answers Activity 1: Listen then write the answers (For weaker students, they can write means of the transportation: car, bike, motorbike, plane, train, walk then listen and match the name with means of transportation) a) By motorbike b) By plane c) By bus d) By bike e) By bus f) By car g) By train h) By walks/ on foot Activity 2: Prediction. Some students will answer the time in the table. Activity 4 Students read the text then play the game: Lucky numbers in two teams. 1. What time does Hoang get up? 2. What time do you get up? 3. What time does he go to school? 4. Lucky number! 5. How do you go to school? 6. Does Hoang go to school by car? 7. Lucky number! 8. Lucky number! 9. What time do your classes start? 10.What time do you have lunch? Activity 5. Take a survey Some students will display their answers in front of the class. - What time do you get up? - What time do you go to school? - What time do you go home? - What time do you have lunch? Objectives: - Introduce to students some means of transport and help them practice the present continuous tense S + be + V- ING use (I, He, and She) to talk about actions happening now. B. Materials: Text book, lesson plan, CD, stereo. C. Method: Communication approach, picture drill, O s and X s and rub out and remember D. Presentation text and model sentences A1 P. 82 Play the CD for students. Introduce the text to students and tell them to find out the model sentences: I ‘m [am] playing games riding a bike driving He/ She ‘s [is] 2. Practice: Picture drill. I…… after school. 4. He………after dinner. Activity 2: New words Students listen, repeat and copy new words. - Remember then rewrite the words. (rub out and remember) Students listen to the CD Students repeat the model sentences and then copy it. S1: What are you doing? S2: I’m playing a game Activity 2. Picture drill Students read the text then practice the model sentences, use the pictures. 10’ 5’’ 10’ 5’ Some students will play the role in front of the class. Teacher will give any necessary corrections. 3. Presentation A2 P. 83 Tells the students practice in pairs: S1: What is he doing? S2: He is…… ing. S1: What is she doing? S2: She is……ing. Homework: - Use these phrases to make full sentences. e.g. wait for a bus I am waiting for a bus. 1. wait for a bus 2. play games 3. ride a bike 4. ride a motorbike Activity 3. Pair work - Students look at the pictures in A1 and A3 then practice in pairs. S1: asks and S2: answers then change. Activity 4. Noughts and crosses Students play the game O s and X s in two teams - [I am] walking to school. - [they are] waiting for a train. - [She is] riding a bike. Copy homework Week 15 Unit 8. Objectives: - Help students practice questions with “WH-“in the present progressive to talk about actions happening now. B. Materials: Text book, lesson plan, CD, stereo. C. Method: Communication approach, picture drill, answers given and matching. D. Procedure: Time Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 5’ 10’ 10’ 15’ I.
