Lesson plan English 8 PERIOD 55 Date: Unit 9 : A FIRST -AID COURSE Lesson 1 : - Getting started ( P 80 ) - Listen and Read ( P 80 - 81) Aim : Help Ss to read for details about the situations which require first-aid . Objective : By the end of the lesson , Students (Ss ) will be able to know what they would do in the situations which require first-aid. Teaching aids : textbooks, posters , pictures . PROCEDURE Stages Steps / Activities Work arrangement Warm - up Pre - reading Kim’s game -Ask Ss to open their books and look at the things on page 80 (for 20”).Tell them these things are used for first-aid. -Divide the class into 2 teams. -Ask Ss to close the books and work in the groups , tell as many words as possible . -Which team has more right words is the winner . -Ask Ss to open the books again and go through the words in English. -Answer key: + emergency room + medicated oil + ambulance + ice + alcohol + sterile dressing + absorbent cotton + water pack -Ask Ss to discuss and tell what they would do in these situations which require first-aid. 1-use cold water pack /ice to ease the pain .khử trùng 2-use the alcohol /medicated oil to sterilize ['sterilaiz] it. 3-use the towel / handkerchief to stop the bleeding and let her lie flat . 4-use medicated oil / sterile ['sterail]dressing:băng vô trùng 1. Objective : By the end of the lesson , Students (Ss ) will be able to make and respond to requests , offers and promises . Teaching aids : textbooks , posters, pictures. A nurse is pushing an empty wheelchair towards the exit. She is probably taking it to a patient in the ambulance. The eye chart on the wall is used to check people's eyesight. The chart consists of about 28 letters ranging in size from about 5 centimeters in height at the top of the chart to about 1 centimeter at the bottom A doctor is trying to weigh a crying baby on the scale. The baby's mother is standing nearby. She's trying to stop her child from crying. Objective : By the end of the lesson ,Students (Ss) will be able to know some knowledge about first-aid Teaching aids : text book ,posters , pictures , cardboards . Ex : bee sting, snake, accident, burn, cut, fainting, shock -Have Ss choose 4 words and write them on the piece of paper . -Read the words until a student has to shout “Bingo” and he / she wins the game . 1. Shock -don’t overheat him with coats / blankets . -don’t give him any food / drink . -don’t give him drugs / alcohol .
