CLASS OBSERVATION SHEET Unit 12: Music (advanced) Lesson Speaking Teacher in charge: Ho Nhu Trang Subject: English Time Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 5’ 15’ I. WARM UP Game: “Kim's game”. - Divide the class into 2 teams: A and B - Show 8 pictures of famous singers. - Give instructions: identify their names and try to memorize them in 30 seconds. Each group go to the BB to write as many names as possible. The group that has written the most correct words will be the winner.” - Checking instruction II. PRE – SPEAKING 1) Pre – teaching vocabulary a) Eliciting - Energized (a): phấn khích +technique: situation + example - Fantastic (a): tuyệt vời + technique: synonym - Moving (a) làm xúc động + technique: situation - Soft (a) nhẹ nhàng + technique: example - Blow up (v) làm nổ tung + technique: picture+ situation - Appreciate (v) :thưởng thức + technique: picture + synonym b) Checking vocabulary - Listen to the T’s instructions - Identify the names of famous singers, go to Bb and write down - Listen to T’s elicitation, say out the words. - Listen and repeat chorally and individually 16’ - Rub out and remember 2) Rearranging - Divides class into groups of 3 - Show the poster - Give instruction: “look at this and show me what sentences express positive attitude, neutral attitude or negative one.” - Expected answers: Positive attitude: 1, 5, 6. Neutral attitudes: 2. Negative attitude: 3, 4, 7,8. - Ask answers from Ss. - Give feedback and correct answers. III. WHILE – SPEAKING Activity 1: Complete the table. - Show the poster on the BB. - Deliver handouts. Partner 1 Partner 2 Kind of music Reason for listening to music Favourite band/musician Favourite song/ piece of music When listen to music - Give instruction: “each person has to complete your own table by asking the friends in your group”. - some Ss go to Bb and write down the words - Listen T’s instruction - Rearrange phrases into the suitable column - Listen T’s instruction 7’ 2’ - Ask one student as a model. - Write down the information into the table. - Give Ss suggestion of Wh-Words - Ask 2 Ss to make a model in front of the class. - Ask Ss to work in groups to complete the table. - Go around and offer help - Ask some Ss to report - Give feedback and correct mistakes Activity 2 : - Ask 2 Ss to read aloud the dialogue in the textbook as a model. - Ask Ss to present their dialogue in while speaking part IV. POST SPEAKING - Brainstorm about some kinds of music. - Ask Ss to discuss what kinds of music they like and dislike and give some reasons in pair. - Ask some pairs to present their discussion. - Give feedback. V. WRAPPING: - Sum up the main points. - Ask Ss to prepare for the next lesson. - a student make a model - 2 Ss make the model - Work in group - Some Ss stand up and report - Read aloud the dialogue in the textbook. - Present their dialogue in while speaking part. - Discuss what kinds of music they like and dislike and give some reasons in pair - Some pairs present their discussion .
