NHỮNG KẾT QUẢ MỚI CỦA LUẬN ÁN 1. Đa số các sinh viên năm thứ nhất của Đại học Thái Nguyên sử dụng năng lực chiến lược để đối phó và phát huy các kỹ năng giao tiếp của họ .2. Sinh viên năm thứ nhất thể hiện chưa tốt trong các lĩnh vực từ vựng, thành ngữ và hình thành từ nhưng lại thể hiện tốt hơn đối với các từ đồng nghĩa và trái nghĩa; chưa tốt trong các lĩnh vực liên quan tới thì của động từ, lời nói trực tiếp và gián tiếp, nhưng thể hiện tốt hơn hoặc thể hiện vượt trội trong các lĩnh vực khác như sự phù hợp giữa chủ ngữ và động từ, đại từ, cụm từ và mệnh đề.3. Không có mối quan hệ có ý nghĩa nào tồn tại giữa năng lực từ vựng và ngữ pháp của sinh viên; Có tồn tại một mối quan hệ giữa việc đánh giá của giảng viên và mức độ năng từ vựng và cú pháp của sinh viên.4. Sinh viên năm nhất không thường xuyên sử dụng hoặc thực hành các kỹ năng từ vựng và cú pháp của họ như được chỉ ra bởi điểm số trung bình là 3,0. 5. Luận án đã xây dựng hệ thống bài luyện tập bao gồm các hoạt động hướng tới việc nâng cao năng lực từ vựng và cú pháp cho sinh viên năm thứ nhất ở đại học Thái Nguyên. KHẢ NĂNG ỨNG DỤNG TRONG THỰC TIỄN VÀ NHỮNG VẪN ĐỀ CẦN TIẾP TỤC NGHIÊN CỨU Khả năng ứng dụng trong thực tiễn: - Các nhà lãnh đạo, các nhà quản lý của các trường thành viên trong đại học Thái Nguyên nói chung và bộ môn ngoại ngữ nói riêng có thể tham khảo các kết quả của luận án để nâng cao chất lượng đào tạo và nâng cao năng lực tiếng Anh của sinh viên để đáp ứng các yêu cầu của đề án Ngoại ngữ quốc gia 2020; Để đổi mới phương pháp giảng dạy và đảm bảo việc thực hiện chiến lược cải tiến việc giảng dạy tiếng Anh.- Sinh viên có thể tham khảo luận án này để xác định được những khó khăn sẽ phải đương đầu trong quá trình học tiếng Anh. Những vấn đề cần tiếp tục nghiên cứu: - Nghiên cứu các thành tố khác có liên quan đến năng lực từ vựng và cú pháp của sinh viên, như cụm động từ, những cụm từ, danh động từ và động từ nguyên thể, câu so sánh, câu điều kiện.- Nghiên cứu các yếu tố ảnh hưởng đến năng lưc từ vựng và cú pháp của sinh viên như: giới tính, đặc điểm tính cách hoặc phong cách học tập.

Banaag Summary The main focus of this study was to determine the strategic, lexical and syntactic competencies in English of freshman student Thai Nguyen university. This study made use of the descriptive method and utilized researcher-constructed questionaire and teacher made test. For objective interpretation and analysis of the study, the data were subjected to the following statistical treatment: frequency, percentage, ranking, independent t-test and standard deviation. THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY Socialist Republic of Vietnam BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY Republic of the Philippines iii The findings of the study revealed that majority of the freshman students of Thai Nguyen University employed strategic competencies to cope and promote their communication skills. Further, freshman students have poor performance in the areas of vocabulary, idioms and word formation but have better performance in synonyms and antonym; they demonstrate poor performance in the areas of verb tenses, direct and indirect speech, but have better or remarkable performance in the areas of subject verb agreement, pronoun references and phrases and clauses. In addition, There is no significant relationship exists between students’ lexical and syntactic competencies. There exists a relationship between teachers’ assessment and the level of students’ lexical and syntactic competencies. Students did not frequently used or practice their lexical and syntactic skills as indicated by their mean score of 3.0. The drill exercises formulated contains activities geared towards improving freshman students’ lexical and syntactic competencies in Thai Nguyen university.
