*Refer to Engineers Australia guidelines for recognition of CPD hours. Process Piping Design Engineering Education Australia (EEA) on behalf of Engineers Australia (EA) is proud to present this four-day intensive ‘master class’ on Process Piping from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Delivered by leading expert piping engineer and internationally acclaimed expert presenter Robert W. Haupt. This high profile and highly sought after program from the EEA ‘master class’ series is a must for piping engineers and designers and is limited to places in our Melbourne and Perth courses in 2008. Includes international expert presenter, comprehensive reference notes (and a copy of ASME B31.3 Code), lunches and refreshments and attendance certificate. Based on the ASME B31.3 Code design requirements for process piping design and construction and recognised by Engineers Australia for Continuing Professional Development. * Cost: $3,950 (incl. GST) per person $3,650 (incl GST) per person for members of EA and ASME * Melbourne 26 - 29 August 8.30 am – 5 pm daily Amora Riverwalk Hotel 649 Bridge Road Richmond Perth 1 - 4 September 8.30 am – 5pm daily Rydges Perth Cnr Hay & King Streets Course Description The lack of commentary, or historical explanation, regarding the B31.3 Code design requirements for process piping design and construction is an obstacle to the designer, manufacturer, fabricator, supplier, erector, examiner, inspector, and owner, to provide a safe and economical piping system. This four-day intensive ‘master class’, through the use of numerous slides shown of actual piping installations, and personal experience of the instructor, demonstrates how designers have correctly and incorrectly applied the B31.3 Code. This ‘master class’ explains the intent of the Code with respect to design and why the Code is not a design handbook. Attendees come away from this ‘master class’ with a clearer understanding of how piping systems fail and the requirements (and guidance) of the Code to prevent such failures. Attendees will gain experience with the concerns and questions that must be addressed to produce a safe piping system, and will learn where and how to get these answers. The focus of the ‘master class’ is to enhance the attendees’ understanding and application of the B31.3 Code design requirements. Instruction is further enhanced by in-class piping problem solving, directly applying the rules and equations of the B31.3 Code for specified design and operating conditions to illustrate correct Code applications. 4 day course Engineering Education Australia ENGINEERS AUSTRALIA We invite you to contact us at:  post Suite 202, 21 Bedford Street, North Melbourne Victoria 3051  website www.eeaust.com.au  email info@eeaust.com.au  telephone +61 3 9274 9600  fax +61 3 9326 9888 ENGINEERS AUSTRALIA Engineering Education Australia We invite you to contact us at:  post Suite 202, 21 Bedford Street, North Melbourne Victoria 3051  website www.eeaust.com.au  email info@eeaust.com.au  telephone +61 3 9274 9600  fax +61 3 9326 9888 Engineering Education Australia Process Piping Course Outline History, Scope, and Definitions • Piping code history, code organization, code philosophy • Historical rationale for code rules • Interpretations, code cases and addenda • Code definitions Design General requirements - Piping design criteria: failure modes, stress categories, acceptance criteria; Sustained and thermal expansion stresses (not primary and secondary stresses), Occasional loads; Piping design; conditions, normal design load; Considerations for unusual load categorization Pressure design - Straight pipe, allowances for variations in normal operation; Elbows and bends; Tees, branch connections, and reinforcement; Other fittings; Piping Joints; Nonstandard components External loads design - Avoiding piping collapse, sustained and occasional loads; Fatigue, flexibility analysis; Cold spring; Stress intesification factors; Simplified design; Pipe support design, support types, design methods Special piping systems - Materials, fabrication, examination, and testing Who Should Attend Piping engineers and designers should attend who need a greater understanding of the Code design and analysis requirements to produce a safe-economical piping system for the plant owner. Register for the Process Piping ‘Master Class’ To register for this four-day intensive ‘master class’ on Process Piping visit our website at www.eeaust.com.au or contact the EEA team on 03 9274 9600. Alternatively, please email us on info@eeaust.com.au for a copy of the registration form. Special Requirements What Participants Say Attendees will be provided with a comprehensive set of reference notes, the latest edition of the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Codebook. Attendees will need to bring their own calculator. In 2007 when this special ‘master class’ series of technical courses were introduced (through the Power Piping Design & Fabrication course), the feedback about the program and expert engineer/presenter Ronald W. Haupt was overwhelmingly high. Participants said … “Excellent course which covers all aspects of piping design in detail.” “A very informative must do course for anyone involved with projects for ASME codes and practices. Very well presented and more courses like these are needed.” “The opportunity to learn from ASMEs most experienced engineers was greatly appreciated.” “This course will bring pressure piping engineers up to speed very quickly.” “A well rounded course presented by people with high integrity and knowledge on the topic.” “Well worthwhile for any design, maintenance and operations engineers. Highly recommended.” International Expert Presenter Ronald W. Haupt, P.E. is a consulting piping engineer for Pressure Piping Engineering Associates, Inc. He has over 40 years of professional experience in the design and analysis of industrial process and energy-related structures, equipment, piping, pipelines, and supports. Ronald is a member of the ASME B31 Code for Pressure Piping Standard Committee, the B31.1 Power Piping Section Committee, B31.3 Process Piping Section Committee, and other ASME and national codes and standards committees.
