 OBJECTIVES

Aims: Ways of using suitable non-verbal forms of communication to attract someone’s attention

such as waving, raising our hand, jumping up and down, whistling or clapping our hands and pointing at someone whether are polite or impolite

Lexical items: words / phrases related to ways of socializing

Teaching aids: handouts

Skills: Reading for gist and for specific information

 METHOD: Integrated, mainly communicative

 PROCEDURE:

WARM-UP:

T gives the picture and asks some students some

questions:

1 What are the people in the picture doing?

2 What will you do and say if you want to get your

teacher’s attention in class?

BEFORE YOU READ:

 T asks Ss to give the Vietnamese equivalents to the

following words and then T reads these words and

Ss repeat

WHILE YOU READ:

Task 1:

 T reads loudly and slowly for Ss to check how to

 T rereads the passage faster and asks Ss to scan

the passage to find out answers of task 3

- T divides the class into many groups and asks each

group to give answers to blackboard

- T moves around class to give help

- After Ss finish their task, T calls on representatives

of four groups to read the answers aloud in front of

the class

- T gives feedback and correct answers if necessary

 OBJECTIVES

Aims: by the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen and get information from the talk of a

social worker, advising people on how to use the telephone in their family

Lexical items: words / phrases related to the family telephone

Teaching aids: a tape of English 12, a cassette player

 METHOD: Integrated, mainly communicative

 PROCEDURE:

WARM-UP:

 T gives a picture and asks Ss to answers the

questions as below:

1 What are they doing?

2 What do you think each of them would say to greet

each other?

3 What do you think they would talk about?

4 How long do you think it would take them to finish

their call and why?

BEFORE YOU LISTEN:

 T asks Ss to give the Vietnamese equivalents to

Skills: build sentence and reorder given sentences to make a complete paragraph

 OBJECTIVES

Aims: by the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to stress in two-syllable words , to distinguish and

use many kinds of syllable words

Teaching aids: handouts

 METHOD: Integrated, mainly communicative

 PROCEDURE:

PRONUNCIATION: stress in two-syllable words

 T gives some words having many kinds of

syllable words and asks Ss to find out each kind

- T corrects Ss’mistakes if necessary

- play the tape

- T explains the ways of stressing in two – syllable

words

 T asks Ss to listen the tape and then listen and

repeat “Practise reading these sentences in the

page of 38”

 T calls on each student practicing aloud in front

of the class and then T gives mistakes and

explains more

sentence in its in order to find out which two –
