At the same year the name of SEAP Federation was changed into Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF), and the games were known as the Southeast Asian Games. Brunei was admitted at the 10 th SEA Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, and East Timor at the 22 nd SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. In December 2003, Vietnam hosted the Games for the first time. With 158 gold medals, Vietnam gained the over-all championship for the first time. The 23 rd SEA Games was held in the Philippines in 2005, and the 2007 Southeast Asian Games were held in Thailand, which is the most protested games ever in the history of SEA Games. The SEA Games are held every two years and the next host for the 2009 SEA Games is Laos. Millions of people had died and there was destruction everywhere. People hoped they could build a future of world peace through this new organisation.
