Group 2 Definition: It is a kind of essay, In this type of essay we not only give information but also present an argument with the PROS (supporting ideas) and CONS (opposing ideas) of an argumentative issue. The function of an argumentative essay: To prove that your opinion about some fact, problem or phenomenon is correct or more truthful than others There are a few types of argumentative compositions such as: 1. Advantages and disadvantages 2. Expressing opinions/providing solutions to problems 3. Expressing arguments for and against a topic 4. Compare and contrast something or somebody Parts in an argumentative essay • I. Introduction • II. Body A. First point and supporting info B. Second point and supporting info C. Third point and supporting info • III. Conclusion 1.Introduction: • Provides background on the topic • Presents a thesis that describes the stance of the writer on the given topic 2.
